Causes of itchy scrotum

Causes of itchy scrotum

I believe that many male friends will encounter such a problem, that is, the feeling of itching in the scrotum. Sometimes this condition is not serious, as long as the lower body is kept dry and clean, it will recover. But what if the scrotum is particularly itchy? If this situation occurs, it is not enough to simply clean it. The most important thing is to find the cause of this situation. Prevention is the best policy. I hope everyone can always pay attention to their health to avoid serious illness.

Internal factors

This is mainly due to the unreasonable design of traditional men's underwear.

Due to the unique body structure of men, and because that unique part is very important, men's underwear actually has a great impact on men. However, because men are more casual in nature, they often endure and ignore the discomfort caused by poorly designed underwear.

Men's sexual function and fertility are closely related to the temperature of the testicles. The contraction of the scrotum is to regulate the temperature of the testicles to be 2 to 3 degrees below the body temperature. If you touch the scrotum with your hand, you will feel it is cooler than other parts of the body. Only when the testicles are 2 to 3 degrees below the body temperature can the secretion of testosterone reach its best. Testosterone can promote sperm production, improve sperm quality and enhance sexual function.

Most traditional underwear on the market are designed with double layers in the front, which wraps the penis and scrotum together, leaving the scrotum in a hot and humid environment for a long time. Over time, it is easy to cause scrotal eczema, sexual dysfunction, severe varicocele and even infertility. The unreasonable design of underwear is the main external cause of scrotal eczema and causes scrotal itching.

External factors

① The living and working environment is humid, and the air humidity is relatively high;

②External stimulation, cold or hot, excessive sweating, excessive scratching, etc.;

③ Tight underwear, friction with foreign objects, and wearing synthetic underwear can induce scrotal eczema;

Scrotal eczema can also be acquired through sexual transmission. Clinically, 20% of scrotal eczema patients are infected through unhealthy sexual transmission.

Scrotal itching is a very common symptom, especially in young men. Generally speaking, it may have the following reasons:

(1) It is more common in people who do manual labor, especially in the summer, when the genitals are hot, sweaty, humid, and poorly ventilated. The scrotal skin is stained by sweat and rubbed by underwear, causing itching. Wearing tight jeans or non-absorbent, non-breathable nylon underwear can also cause this condition.

(2) Riboflavin (vitamin B2) deficiency can lead to scrotitis. The scrotum will show changes such as erythema, dryness, scaling, papules and scabs, accompanied by itching. At the same time, angular cheilitis, glossitis and oral ulcers may also occur.

(3) Scrotitis caused by fungi, such as candidal scrotitis and tinea cruris involving the scrotum, can cause scrotal itching.

(4) Neurodermatitis and eczema in the scrotum can cause itching. In summary, general scrotal itching is not a sexually transmitted disease. As long as there is no history of sexual promiscuity, genital ulcers or growths, urethral discharge, etc., there is no need to worry about contracting a sexually transmitted disease.

People with scrotal itching should wear mesh scrotal pocket underwear to allow ventilation of the genitals and keep the scrotum dry. Pay attention to local hygiene and wash it every day. If the itching is obvious, do not scratch it or boil it with boiling water. If various local damages occur, go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment.

The above introduces the reasons why the scrotum is particularly itchy. Patients can see that there are many reasons for this situation. If you recover after treatment, you must avoid the above situation. This is the best way and can effectively prevent the recurrence of the disease. The most important thing is to develop good hygiene habits. Finally, I wish all patients can get rid of the disease as soon as possible.
