Postoperative care for prostate enlargement

Postoperative care for prostate enlargement

In fact, in daily life, many male friends do not pay much attention to their personal hygiene, which will cause bacteria to enter the body and cause diseases such as prostate hyperplasia. It cannot be ignored and must be treated actively, otherwise it is likely to affect your normal life. So let us take a look at the care methods after prostate hyperplasia surgery.

Nursing methods;

1. Body position: supine position, change to semi-recumbent position 3 days after the operation, and continue bladder irrigation. Do not allow the catheter to be twisted, compressed or dislocated.

2. Diet: After the intestinal motility is restored, you can eat high-protein, nutritious and easily digestible food to keep the bowels smooth, avoid bleeding from the prostate fossa due to straining during defecation, and drink plenty of water, 2500-3000ML per day.

3. The speed of bladder flushing fluid should be appropriate. If it is too fast, it will cause frequent physiological contractions of the bladder and cause spasmodic pain. If it is too slow, it cannot flush out the exudate in time and it is easy to form blood clots that block the drainage tube.

4. When you feel pain, you can do deep breathing exercises. If necessary, you can relieve the pain by using analgesics. When you cough, protect the incision with your hands to relieve the pain.

5. Coughing, expectoration and deep breathing can prevent ulcerative pneumonia.

6. Wipe the urethral opening twice a day with a 0.5% iodine cotton ball, keep the urethral opening clean, change underwear frequently, and place the urine bag below the bladder level to prevent retrograde infection.

7. While in bed, you should exercise your limbs to prevent venous thrombosis.

8. After the balloon catheter is removed, you should urinate frequently to prevent increased bladder pressure and secondary bleeding. Since the elderly spend a long time in bed and have little activity, do not get out of bed and move around immediately after the catheter is removed. You should gradually increase your activity level to prevent increasing the burden on your heart.

Eat easily digestible foods containing crude fiber to prevent constipation.

Drink plenty of water, 2000-3000ML per day, to achieve the effect of self-cleaning.

Avoid excessive labor, colds, smoking and drinking, and eating spicy foods within 1-2 months after the operation to prevent secondary bleeding.

Most patients have low bladder function after surgery, and urinary overflow still occurs for 3-6 months. Therefore, it is necessary to train the contraction function of the anal sphincter. Contract the anus when inhaling and relax the anus when exhaling to restore the function of the urethral sphincter as soon as possible.

The above article has introduced in detail the care methods after prostate hyperplasia surgery. I believe everyone has a relatively preliminary understanding. Therefore, in daily life, if you have just finished surgery, you should lie in bed and rest, and do not do strenuous exercise.
