What is the cause of mild asthenozoospermia?

Mild asthenozoospermia, as the name suggests, means that the activity of sperm is reduced. This is a very common example in clinical practice. There are many people like this around us, but most of them don’t know the reason and don’t ask a doctor. Sometimes it causes tension in the family. Let’s take a look at the reasons to solve this problem.

Asthenospermia refers to poor sperm motility or inactivity. There are many causes of asthenospermia. Whether it will cause infertility depends on the severity of the asthenospermia. Oligospermia and asthenospermia are one of the main causes of male infertility and decreased fertility.

The first common factor causing asthenospermia is infection: infection of reproductive tract pathogens directly affects the quality and quantity of sperm. The second common factor causing asthenospermia is endocrine (reproductive hormone) changes: hypothalamic hypogonadism, selective LH deficiency, selective FSH deficiency, hyperprolactinemia, hyperestradiolemia, etc., can all reduce spermatogenesis and motility, thereby reducing the quantity and quality of sperm. The third common factor causing asthenospermia is spermatogenesis disorder: pre-pubertal mumps and concurrent orchitis can damage spermatogenic cells, affect spermatogenesis, and thus affect fertility. Unilateral cryptorchidism can reduce spermatogenesis by half. Varicose veins can cause poor testicular blood circulation and tissue hypoxia, resulting in a decrease in sperm count, reduced motility, and an increase in abnormal sperm, leading to infertility.

1. Immune factors: The effect of antisperm antibodies on sperm motility may be that they bind to the tail of the sperm, which hinders the sperm's motility, reduces its motility, and poorly penetrates the sperm.

2. Endocrine factors: Prolactin in seminal plasma has a linear relationship with sperm activity. It can increase sperm oxygen uptake or affect sperm motility through the cAMP system. When the level of estrogen (E) in serum increases, sperm motility is reduced. Excessive testosterone in seminal plasma may inhibit sperm motility.

3. Long-term abstinence: Long-term abstinence from ejaculation often results in high sperm density, many dead sperm, and poor sperm motility. This is normal, so it is advisable to abstain from sex for 5 to 7 days before checking semen.

4. Varicose vein: Due to the obstruction of blood circulation in the testicles and epididymis, the local temperature rises and toxic substances accumulate, which reduces sperm motility.

5. Reproductive system infection: Acute and chronic inflammation of the reproductive tract or reproductive glands such as the epididymis, vas deferens, seminal vesicles and prostate can reduce the motility of sperm. Reproductive system infection changes the composition of sperm plasma. The reduction of zinc, magnesium, citric acid and fructose and the increase of pH will affect sperm motility.

6. Abnormal semen liquefaction: Semen that does not liquefy or has high viscosity is one of the causes of infertility, and one very important factor may be that it affects the motility of sperm and causes infertility. In semen that does not liquefy, thin and long fibrils can be seen, and they are intertwined with each other, which provides space for sperm activity and restrains sperm. At the same time, thick fibers are also seen to be connected to a network by many thin fibers, which may be the reason for the mechanical restriction of sperm forward movement.

After reading this entire article, I believe everyone knows the cause of this disease. As for your friends who are unfortunately suffering from it, please go to the hospital as soon as possible to ask the doctor what to do, and then combine good living habits in life to heal the body, live a healthy life, and have a happy family.
