Circumcision is a very simple surgical treatment that does not require hospitalization and does not affect work and daily life. It takes about a week to recover. After the operation, pay attention to keep the wound clean and dry, and do not get it wet; anti-inflammatory and dressing changes are required after the operation; if the wound does not heal for a long time or the wound bleeds and swells, it needs to be re-examined. Circumcision surgery is a minimally invasive surgery that only requires local anesthesia. The entire process takes only 10 to 15 minutes. There is no obvious pain. You can go home after the surgery, and the wound will heal in 7 to 10 days. After the surgery, you should wear loose and breathable underwear to keep the glans penis upward to reduce edema and keep the wound dry. You can rest in bed for 2 to 3 days and then you can live a normal life, but avoid excessive exercise. 3 to 4 weeks after the surgery or when the Shanghuan (disposable circumcision stapler) falls off on its own, go to the hospital for a follow-up checkup. There is no age limit for circumcision: as long as there are conditions such as long foreskin or prepuce, men of all ages can undergo circumcision. However, boys under the age of 7 usually need to undergo circumcision under general anesthesia because of their low cooperation, which increases the cost and has great risks. If the problem of prepuce is not very serious, it is recommended to consider local anesthesia when the child is a little older. For some children, the prepuce will naturally get better with age and do not need surgery. However, if the foreskin is too long and causes urinary difficulty, repeated glans groinitis, urinary tract infection, or short penis, hypospadias, cryptic penis, etc., you need to go to a regular hospital for treatment as soon as possible. Edema after circumcision is a common symptom. It is normal to have slight edema of the glans penis within 3 to 4 days after the operation, but there are individual differences. The reason for the edema is that after circumcision, the blood circulation in the frenulum of the foreskin is very rich. After the operation, the blood vessels and lymphatic vessels in the skin are cut off, and a new circulation channel is created, resulting in poor circulation, which takes some time. Therefore, the edema that occurs in the part after the operation can generally be restored in 2-3 weeks, and some can last for more than 3 months, but there is no need to worry, and the swelling will certainly disappear after the new circulation is formed. |
