How many days after prostate surgery can I get out of bed?

Prostate disease is also a common male disease in men, especially for older men. The probability of prostate disease is relatively high. Mild prostate disease can be controlled by medication, but severe prostate disease can only be cured by surgery. After prostate surgery, how many days will it take for the patient to get out of bed and move around?

The most common prostate surgery we have is caused by prostate hyperplasia. Now a minimally invasive transurethral prostatectomy is required, so I think what I want to talk about is the issue of getting out of bed after minimally invasive prostate surgery. Generally speaking, if the patient does not have any special discomfort, he can get out of bed the next day after the operation, but be careful to keep the range of motion small. If there is hematuria in the catheter flushing fluid, consider the bleeding and go to bed to rest in time. The time to get out of bed is not a key issue after prostate surgery, but to observe some conditions of the patient after the operation, including the color of the catheter, the color of the flushing fluid, and whether the patient has any changes in vital signs. After the operation, the patient should also pay attention to rest, not smoke, not drink, eat light food, not eat spicy and irritating food, and keep the bowels open.

How to care after prostate surgery

1. Drink plenty of water

Patients with prostate hyperplasia should drink more water after surgery, but they can drink less at night, otherwise they will have frequent urination at night, affecting their sleep. It is advisable for patients to drink 2000~3000ml of water per day.

2. Prevent constipation

Patients with prostatic hyperplasia should also prevent constipation in their daily life, because when people strain to defecate, the abdominal pressure will increase, which will have a certain impact on the healing of the wound. Patients can eat more intestinal moisturizing foods, such as bananas and sweet potatoes.

3. Quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption

Patients with prostatic hyperplasia should also quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption in their daily lives. This is because tobacco and alcohol will have a certain effect on the body's blood vessels, causing congestion and swelling of the prostate, so it is very detrimental to the recovery of postoperative wounds and must be limited.

3. How to eat after prostate surgery

After the prostate surgery and awakening from anesthesia, if there is no vomiting and abdominal distension, the patient cannot eat on the day of the surgery but must receive an IV. The patient can eat some liquid food on the second day after the surgery, and then slowly eat normal food.

During the recovery period after surgery, patients can eat more foods containing calcium, zinc, vitamins and iodine. There are many foods containing zinc, such as watermelon seeds, blood, whole grains, oysters, peanuts, lean meat, walnuts, eggs, etc., and general fruits and vegetables also contain zinc. The iodine content in seafood is high, among which seaweed, mussels, kelp, moss and jellyfish are the best. Appropriate supplementation of vitamin E and protein powder is good for wounds.

Try to choose high-quality food that is high in protein and low in fat and cholesterol, such as various fish and shrimp. You can make some easily digestible fish and shrimp dishes, and you can make sea cucumber, minced meat, carrot and rice porridge for consumption. You can eat 1 to 2 eggs a day, or you can eat duck eggs, quail eggs, etc.

Meatballs and stewed spareribs made with lean meat can also be eaten in moderation. Animal liver is a very good high-protein food. Patients can eat about 50 grams a day. Patients with high blood lipids should limit the amount and eat it with green leafy vegetables.

Shiitake mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, kelp and other seaweed foods contain interferons that can effectively inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells. Therefore, fungi and algae foods should be added during meal preparation.
