Erectile pain in the glans after circumcision surgery

Erectile pain in the glans after circumcision surgery

Circumcision is a surgical method chosen by many men with excessive foreskin, because excessive foreskin has a great impact on men, especially on their sexual function. However, after circumcision, many men will also have certain problems, such as swelling and pain in the glans during erection. This is caused by poor postoperative care. Below, I will introduce the postoperative care methods of circumcision!

1. Postoperative precautions

Edema after circumcision is a common symptom. Mild edema of the glans penis within 3 to 4 days after surgery is normal, but there are individual differences. The reason for edema is that after circumcision, the blood circulation in the frenulum of the foreskin is relatively abundant. After the operation, the blood vessels and lymphatic vessels in the skin are cut off, and a new return path is established, resulting in poor return, which takes some time. Therefore, the local edema after the operation can generally recover in 2-3 weeks, and some can last for more than 3 months, but there is no need to panic. After the new circulation is formed, the swelling will naturally subside.

At the same time, avoid eating spicy food. Do not drink alcohol. Do not have sex for one month. Sleeping at night can be done in a supine or side-lying position to avoid compressing the genitals. If you have an erection at night, you can get up to urinate and walk around. If the edema persists for a long time, you should go to the hospital for a follow-up examination to prevent secondary infection. The edema can also be effectively relieved through treatment.

2. Postoperative care methods

1. Before the surgical wound heals, you should return for regular follow-up examinations; the wound should be kept clean and dry after the operation, and be careful not to wet the gauze when urinating.

2. Wear loose underwear to reduce friction on the glans penis.

3. It is normal for the glans penis to be slightly edematous within 3 to 4 days after the operation. This is a reaction of the body caused by anesthesia and surgery. Note that the swelling is pink at this time.

4. After the operation, sexual stimulation and sexual fantasies should be avoided as much as possible to prevent penile erection. Of course, the doctor will prescribe some drugs to prevent erection for the patient, but if sexual stimulation cannot be controlled, it is still possible that the wound will rupture due to erection and delay wound healing.

5. Do not wet the dressing when urinating. If it is soaked with urine, it should be replaced as soon as possible. Keep the wound dressing clean, or soak the head of the penis with relevant disinfectant products every day.

6. Keep the perineum clean after circumcision surgery. Some patients may feel discomfort in the foreskin after the operation. Scratching should be prohibited. The area should be wiped clean after urination and defecation to prevent local contamination.

3. Best time for surgery

It is very important to choose the best time for circumcision. Because excessive foreskin or phimosis will hinder the development of genitals, leading to genital dysplasia and then causing short genitals, circumcision can be performed when the child is around 8-10 years old.

Spring and autumn are the two most suitable seasons for circumcision. Autumn is known as the best season for circumcision because of its dry weather and low risk of inflammation after surgery.
