Redness, swelling and pus on the glans penis

Redness, swelling and pus on the glans penis

In fact, we don’t know the names of many diseases, and we can only confirm them by going to the hospital for examination. If you find that the glans penis is red, swollen and purulent, the mildest disease is glansitis, but it is not unavoidable to have other male diseases. Therefore, if you find that your glans penis is red, swollen and purulent, you should go to the hospital for examination and treatment as soon as possible to avoid worsening of the disease and affecting fertility.

Purulence is a pathological change caused by the infection of damaged wounds or tissues by bacteria. 70% of cases are directly caused by the infection of Streptococcus pyogenes. Purulence is accompanied by pus, which is a thick or thin mixture formed during the inflammation of the body's tissues. During the inflammation, cells and tissues undergo liquefaction and necrosis under the action of proteinases released by bacteria and neutrophils, and the fluid in the blood vessels leaks out, forming a thick liquid that appears grayish yellow or yellowish white to the naked eye. The main treatment methods are: cleaning the wound infection, disinfection or going to the hospital for treatment.

Wound purulent is a pathological change caused by the infection of damaged wounds or tissues by bacteria. 70% of them are directly caused by purulent Streptococcus pyogenes. Purulent Streptococcus pyogenes is divided into Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria by Gram staining. Gram-positive bacteria include Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, etc. Gram-negative bacteria include Neisseria, Moraxella (Branchum catarrhalis), Pseudomonas, Escherichia, Proteobacterium, non-spore-forming anaerobic bacteria (such as Pseudomonas), etc.

The most harmful one is the Gram-positive bacteria - Staphylococcus aureus. This bacteria multiplies very quickly after entering the wound, and releases a hyaluronidase to digest the subcutaneous tissue to provide itself with nutrients. At the same time, the body's immune system also begins to react to resist the invasion of pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus. The number of phagocytic white blood cells in the blood increases rapidly, and they swim out of the blood vessels, infiltrate the wound site to devour the bacteria, and release some enzymes to digest the tissues that have been destroyed by the bacteria. The body regulates resistance to inhibit the further spread of the bacteria, and confines them to the purulent site, gradually eliminating them. The purulent area appears red because of congestion of blood vessels and more blood flowing out. The increase in white blood cells migrating from the blood vessels and the increase in exudate cause local swelling. The white blood cells and bacteria in the purulent area fight fiercely and use a large amount of "chemical weapons", which generates a lot of heat and makes it feel very hot. The swelling of the purulent area compresses the nerves of the subcutaneous tissue and produces pain, so the purulent area makes the human body very uncomfortable. The four major characteristics of purulent inflammation are: redness, swelling, heat and pain.

Blood tests will show an increase in white blood cells and a higher body temperature. Examination of pus under a microscope will reveal a large number of Staphylococcus aureus, white blood cells and ruptured white blood cells. White blood cells that have engulfed bacteria are called "pus cells." Therefore, if a blood test is done during pus or infection, it will be found that the number of white blood cells is much higher than that of normal people.
