From which artery does the testicular artery originate?

Men have testicles, and the tissues of the testicles mainly include hair and skin, as well as some neurovascular tissues. The nerves are for sensing external forces, while the blood vessels are mainly for maintaining normal blood flow and circulation. The testicles also include arteries, and the strength of these arteries is relatively small and different from ordinary arteries. So, from which arteries do the testicular arteries originate?

The testicular artery originates from the abdominal aorta. The male gonadal artery, also known as the internal spermatic artery, originates from the anterior wall of the abdominal aorta below the origin of the renal artery, runs obliquely outward and downward along the surface of the psoas major muscle, crosses the front of the ureter at the level of the 4th lumbar vertebra, enters the scrotum through the inguinal canal to participate in the formation of the spermatic cord, and is distributed in the testis and epididymis.

Testicular microenvironment

The testicular microenvironment is composed of the congenital development and maturity of the testicles, the location of the testicles, the temperature of the testicular living environment (cryptodendripes and varicocele can increase the testicular temperature, which is not conducive to sperm production), the number and physiological function of spermatogenic cells in the testicles, the number and physiological function of supporting cells in the testicles (which have the functions of protecting and nourishing spermatogenic cells, helping spermatogenic cells to differentiate, mature, release sperm, and phagocytize degenerated spermatogenic cells), the number and physiological function of interstitial cells in the testicles, and the physiological function of spermatogenic cells. It is composed of physiological function (secretion of male hormones), patency of the seminiferous tubules and efferent ductules in the testis, the level and proportion of sex hormones in the body, peripheral nerve function and regulation, microvascular system function and blood supply (supply of oxygen, nutrients, and elimination of cell metabolic products), etc. The testis is the main place for sperm production. The testicular microenvironment affects the quantity and quality of sperm production, including sperm motility, sperm survival rate, sperm immunity, etc.

Self-Test

The correct method of self-test

Hold one testicle gently with both hands, touch it with your thumb and move other fingers, and thoroughly check if there is any lump or abnormality in touch or appearance. The epididymis is behind the testicle and is a bit harder, which can be easily mistaken for a tumor. If there is swelling or tenderness, you should go to the hospital for examination in time. Testicular self-examination is aimed at staying away from orchitis. Here we introduce the clinical manifestations of orchitis, hoping to attract the attention of men and take corresponding preventive measures.

1. Non-specific orchitis:

(1) A history of severe systemic infection, epididymitis, or use of intraurethral instruments or trauma.

(2) Testicular pain. In mild cases, it is just a dull pain. In severe cases, it is as painful as a knife and radiates to the groin and lower abdomen.

(3) The onset is sudden, accompanied by systemic symptoms such as chills, high fever, nausea, and vomiting.

2. Mumps orchitis:

(1) Patients with a history of acute mumps.

(2) Testicular pain, usually unilateral but sometimes bilateral.

(2) Accompanied by systemic symptoms such as chills, high fever, nausea, and vomiting.
