Peeling of the glans

Peeling of the glans

The male glans is very important to men. When the male glans peels, it is generally caused by glansitis. There are many reasons for glansitis, such as foreskin is too long, phimosis, etc. can cause this symptom. In most cases, if the foreskin is too long, it is easy for smegma to accumulate, which will then cause bacterial infection. The peeling of the male glans must be treated in time.

What is the cause of the peeling of the glans penis?

Cause 1: Acute superficial balanitis

Symptoms include: skin lesions with local erythema, swelling, erosion, exudation, and blisters in severe cases. It is often caused by local friction, poor rotation of the foreskin, and allergies to external drugs such as condoms can also cause acute inflammation of the glans foreskin. This type should be distinguished from fixed drug eruption. The latter has a history of taking medicine. The skin lesions are initially round or oval bright red spots, which later become purple-red spots with clear boundaries, and gradually exudate, erode or superficial ulcers.

Reason 2: Candidal balanitis

Symptoms include: skin lesions presenting erythema, papules or papulorum, followed by flaky erosions, with white dot-like cheese-like secretions attached to the surface, which can be easily scraped off. It can be primary or secondary to diabetes or long-term use of antibiotics, corticosteroids and sedatives. The patient's spouse may have candidal vaginitis. Candida can be seen in fungal microscopy and culture of local secretions.

Cause 3: Cytoplasmic balanoposthitis

Symptoms include: localized infiltrative dark red spots on the glans penis, with a smooth surface and a little desquamation. Most patients are middle-aged and elderly. Histopathological features of diagnostic value are epidermal hyperplasia and a large number of plasma cells infiltrating in the dermis.

Reason 4: Trichomonas balanitis

It is a mild, transient erosive glans inflammation caused by trichomonas infection. Initially, erythema and papules appear on the glans, with clear boundaries and gradually expanding in scope. On the erythema, there may be small blisters ranging from the size of a needle tip to a millet grain, which may expand and fuse with each other to form a mild erosive surface.

Reason 5: Not paying attention to hygiene or getting angry

If you don't pay attention to hygiene or get angry, it may also cause the glans to peel. Sometimes in life, the soap or cleaning liquid may not be rinsed clean during the washing process, or the use of special female washing liquid may also cause peeling or redness and swelling. In this case, just pay attention to hygiene and clear away heat and reduce fire.

What to do if the glans penis peels

1. Pay attention to local hygiene, clean the glans and foreskin every day. If the foreskin is too long, it should be treated in time and circumcision should be performed if necessary. It is very necessary to clean the smegma in time.

2. Eat less spicy food, such as chili peppers. Avoid smoking and drinking.

For acute balanitis, avoid using corticosteroid ointments to avoid causing more serious infection.

3. Follow the doctor's instructions carefully, take good care of yourself and take medications. Do not take anti-inflammatory drugs at random to prevent the disease from becoming uncontrollable.

Treatment methods for peeling glans penis

The cause is clear

For those with clear etiology, special treatment should be given to the cause. For example, for Candida infection, oral antifungal drugs and topical nystatin or clotrimazole cream can be used. Patients with trichomonas can be treated with mitraz. Patients with obvious infection and fever and lymph node enlargement can be treated with antibiotics.

Keep the area clean and hygienic to avoid irritation

How to effectively treat balanitis? If it is not a fungal infection, you can apply corticosteroid cream when there is dryness and desquamation. For erosive exudation, you can use 1:8000 potassium permanganate solution or 1:2000 lead acetate solution to clean and wet the affected area. The ulcer surface should be changed every day and physical therapy should be performed.

Operation

Nowadays, many male friends have the problem of foreskin being too long. In order to avoid the recurrence of inflammation and harm to men's health, men should undergo circumcision after curing balanitis.
