Why do condoms break?

Why do condoms break?

In order to avoid pregnancy, these people will wear condoms during sex. However, even though they wear condoms, they still get pregnant unexpectedly. At this time, men will wonder if there is something wrong with the quality of the condoms. In fact, if women do not get pregnant after wearing condoms, it is probably because the condoms are broken. So why do condoms break? Let me give you a detailed introduction below.

The reasons may be the use of oily lubricants, excessive use, improper usage, insufficient lubrication, or the condom has expired.

Common reasons for condom breakage include:

Use oil-based lubricant

All condoms use silicone oil as lubricant. Some people add lubricant on their own because they think the condoms they use lack lubricity, but the result is counterproductive. Studies and surveys have found that some oily lubricants have a destructive effect on latex. Some people use vaseline and hair growth oil as lubricants, and as a result, 60% of them have condom ruptures; condoms can be reduced by 90% in strength if they come into contact with mineral oil for only 60 seconds.

Prolonged intercourse

The average duration of sexual intercourse for most people is about 3 to 10 minutes. The survey found that for those whose condoms are prone to rupture, the duration of sexual intercourse is usually 10 to 30 minutes.

Repeated use

Nowadays, condoms are disposable and therefore thinner. Condoms that are washed and reused are prone to rupture.

Improper usage

Some users roll the condom down and put it on like a pair of socks; others worry about the quality of the condom and roll it down to check for holes before each use, or check if there are any leaks like blowing up a balloon.

Poor vaginal lubrication

Some people have more condom breakage than others. Why? According to a survey of family planning clinics in cities across the United States, more than 1/3 of women have experienced condom breakage. Among them, 38% of women said that the condom broke because the vagina was not lubricated enough, and 51% of condom breakage occurred before ejaculation. This shows that the cause of condom breakage is not ejaculation, but the lack of lubrication in the vagina.

Condom aging

Condoms on the market are almost all made of latex. Heat, humidity, time and other environmental factors can cause latex to age and lead to condom rupture.

It can be seen that there are many reasons for condom rupture, so the following aspects should be paid attention to in its prevention measures.
