The diameter is usually less than 1.0 cm. Under the electron microscope, the polyp is composed of smooth muscle tissue covered by urethral epithelial tissue. In a few cases, there is also squamous epithelial metaplasia.

Once urethral fibrous polyps are diagnosed, they are relatively easy to treat. Currently, minimally invasive treatments are often chosen, such as transurethral plasma resection or plasma rod ablation of the polyp pedicle, or laser removal of the polyp from the base. The postoperative efficacy is satisfactory.
