What are the main types of glansitis?

(1) Annular erosive glansitis: The glans and foreskin are inflamed and damaged in a ring-shaped manner, or there is a cheese-like smegma in the ring-shaped manner. The glans and foreskin are swollen and congested on the surface, and the glans is red. The area around the urethral opening is red and has wounds and erosions. It may develop into a superficial ulcer with purulent secretions. The patient will feel redness, itching or burning sensation on the glans, followed by pain.

(2) Acute superficial glansitis: It is mostly caused by excessive foreskin, damage caused by excessive masturbation, and local irritation caused by detergents. Symptoms include edema, erythema, red spots on the penis, red and swollen glans, etc. Secondary infection has purulent secretions, which are easy to form ulcers and cause spontaneous pain. Sometimes small red spots and pain may also appear on the glans, and sometimes small red spots on the glans may cause secondary glans itching.

(3) Candidal balanitis is often manifested by red mucosal erythema, local edema, smooth appearance, mild desquamation of the edges, and papules and small abscesses that expand to form glans erosion. Recurrent candidal balanitis can cause foreskin dryness, fibrosis, and sclerotic changes in the glans.
