Why is the semen yellowish in color? Learn about these three reasons early

Normal sperm is white and translucent, but if you abstain from sex for a long time, the color of semen will gradually turn yellow due to changes in physical and chemical properties. If semen is yellow-green or even contains blood, it indicates inflammation of the reproductive tract.

1. Inspection:

1. Semen pH: 7.2-8.6, average 7.8.

2. Sperm survival rate: dead sperm does not exceed 50%.

3. Semen liquefaction: Complete liquefaction in 30 minutes. If it does not liquefy for more than 1 hour, it is called poor semen liquefaction syndrome.

4. Sperm count in semen: 60 million to 200 million per milliliter. Less than 20 million per milliliter is called oligospermia.

2. Causes:

1. Normal human semen is off-white or slightly khaki. If the abstinence period is long, the color will change to khaki due to changes in physical and chemical properties. This is normal.

2. If you haven't ejaculated for a long time, have taken drugs or foods containing pigments, or have prostatitis or seminal vesiculitis, the semen may be earthy yellow and viscous. Semen will soon solidify into transparent, stringy, and gelatinous clots after being ejaculated, but it is normal as long as it liquefies within 30 minutes. If it cannot liquefy, consider the presence of prostatitis or seminal vesiculitis.

3. When there is inflammation in the male reproductive tract, the semen may be earthy yellow, and a large number of pus balls can be seen under a microscope. If the semen is earthy yellow for a long time, it needs to be treated as soon as possible, otherwise it is likely to affect fertility.

3. Is yellowish-brown semen a disease?

1. Apart from the normal phenomenon of long-term abstinence, the yellowish-brown color of semen may also be caused by some diseases.

2. If a man has inflammation in his reproductive tract, the color of his semen will change. Yellow or yellow-green semen indicates a purulent infection in the prostate or seminal vesicles.

3. Earthy yellow semen may indicate certain diseases. If a man has normal sexual life but his semen is still yellow, it means there is inflammation in the reproductive tract, which may be prostatitis or seminal vesiculitis. If not treated in time, it will affect the quality of semen and even cause infertility.
