What causes cervical pain? Causes and prevention of cervical pain

Nowadays, more and more people suffer from cervical spondylosis. Perhaps this is related to the working methods of modern society or people's lack of health awareness. In short, cervical pain always brings trouble to many people. If you want to say goodbye to cervical pain completely, you need to find the cause of cervical pain.

Causes

Mainly due to long-term strain of the cervical spine, bone hyperplasia, or intervertebral disc prolapse, ligament thickening, resulting in compression of the cervical spinal cord, nerve roots or vertebral arteries, resulting in a series of clinical syndromes of dysfunction. It manifests as cervical disc degeneration itself and a series of secondary pathological changes, such as vertebral segment instability and loosening; nucleus pulposus protrusion or prolapse; bone spur formation; ligament hypertrophy and secondary spinal stenosis, etc., which stimulates or compresses adjacent nerve roots, spinal cord, vertebral artery, cervical sympathetic nerves and other tissues, and causes various symptoms and signs of the syndrome.

Prevention of cervical spondylosis

(1) Read books about cervical spondylosis and learn how to prevent and treat the disease using scientific methods.

(2) Maintain an optimistic spirit, establish the idea of fighting the disease hard, cooperate with the doctor's treatment, and reduce recurrence.

(III) Strengthen the neck and shoulder muscles by doing flexion, extension and rotation exercises of the head and upper limbs during breaks or after work. This can not only relieve fatigue, but also develop muscles and increase toughness, which is beneficial to the stability of the cervical spine and enhances the ability of the neck and shoulders to adapt to sudden changes in the neck.

(IV) Avoid the bad habit of sleeping with a high pillow. A high pillow causes the head to flex forward, increasing the stress on the lower cervical spine and possibly accelerating cervical degeneration.

(5) Keep your neck and shoulders warm, avoid carrying heavy objects on your head and neck, avoid excessive fatigue, and don’t doze off while riding in a car.

(VI) Treat the strain on the soft tissues of the neck, shoulders and back thoroughly as early as possible to prevent it from developing into cervical spondylosis.

(VII) Avoid sprains and contusions when working or walking.

(8) People who work at a desk for a long period of time should change their head position regularly and exercise their neck and shoulder muscles on a regular basis.

(IX) Keep your head, neck, shoulders and back straight. Do not tilt your head or shrug your shoulders. Look straight ahead when talking or reading. Keep your spine straight.

(10) Traditional Chinese medicine believes that walnuts, cornus fruit, raw rehmannia, black sesame, etc. have the function of nourishing the kidney and marrow. Taking a reasonable amount can strengthen the muscles and bones and delay the degeneration of the kidney and joints.
