What to do about infertility? Six common treatment techniques

Infertility must be a huge pain for many couples, especially when seeing other people's white, tender and cute children, this pain is undoubtedly further deepened. However, with the development of the times and the progress of society, there are now many technologies that can help infertile patients realize their dreams.

1. In vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET)

1: Also known as "test tube baby". It is mainly used to treat infertility caused by female fallopian tube factors. Several mature eggs are obtained through superovulation. After egg collection, the processed semen and eggs are added together. After fertilization, they are cultured in vitro for 3-5 days (the time of in vitro culture is determined by the doctor according to the patient's embryo situation, usually 3 days) and then transplanted back into the woman's uterine cavity.

2. Assisted Hatching (AH)

1: It is mainly suitable for patients who have failed IVF, the woman is old, and the zona pellucida is too thick. This technology helps to improve the success rate. For embryos that are difficult to hatch, the transparent layer outside the embryo can be drilled before implantation to allow the embryo to hatch smoothly out of the zona pellucida and implant.

3. Intrauterine insemination (IUI)

1: According to the source of semen, it is divided into (husband AIH) and donor sperm (AID), mainly for female infertility caused by cervical factors; patients with normal male semen quality but ejaculation disorders; and patients with semen liquefaction time too long or no liquefaction. After using drugs to promote the development of follicles to maturity, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is injected to promote ovulation. After 36 hours, 0.2~0.5ml of the processed male semen is injected into the uterine cavity through the cervix. This process is called artificial insemination.

IV. Frozen embryos

1: If there are any remaining embryos of good quality, they can be frozen and stored, and then thawed and implanted into the uterine cavity in a natural or artificial cycle in the future, which will increase the chance of conception. It can be used for patients who have a large number of embryos with good quality obtained in a superovulation cycle and cannot be transplanted all at once, and the excess embryos can be frozen and stored. Patients with severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome who are not suitable for embryo transplantation in the treatment cycle can wait for a natural or artificial cycle to perform embryo transplantation.

5. Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD)

1: Also known as the third generation of "test tube babies", it is mainly used for pre-implantation diagnosis of genetic diseases and selection of chromosomally normal embryos for transplantation.

6: Intracytoplasmic sperm insemination (ISCI)

1: Also known as the second generation of "test tube babies", it is mainly aimed at male infertility; infertility due to immune factors and patients with female age ≥ 35 years old or a small number of eggs should use this technology to ensure fertilization. Male infertility includes too few sperm, low motility and azoospermia. If there is no sperm in the semen, a small amount of sperm can be taken from the epididymis or testicles; if the sperm is too scarce, it is difficult to fertilize naturally even in vitro. A healthy sperm can be injected directly into the oocyte plasma under a microscope to complete fertilization.

7: Infertility is divided into infertility syndrome and

Infertility. If a couple of childbearing age has lived together for more than one year, has normal sexual life, and has not taken any contraceptive measures, but has not been able to successfully conceive, it is called infertility. If a couple can conceive but cannot obtain a surviving baby due to miscarriage or stillbirth for various reasons, it is called infertility.
