Social phobia is a very common mental illness. Strictly speaking, it is a type of neurosis. In my opinion, social phobia is a disease with fear of interacting with others as its main symptom. So the question is, can social phobia be treated with Morita therapy? Can Morita therapy be used to treat social phobia? Theoretically, social phobia and erythrophobia can be treated with Morita therapy. The essence of Morita therapy is: "Let it be, and do what you should do." That is to say, whether you have social phobia or erythrophobia, you should accept it and don't try to change it. Because the more you try to change these symptoms, the more you will feel that they are stubborn and difficult to change. This is what Morita said about mental interaction. So you can only accept these symptoms like accepting the four seasons of the year, winter is cold and summer is hot, and let it be. And while accepting these symptoms, do what you should do most at the moment (such as studying and working), that is, do what you should do. In this way, over time, because you no longer pay attention to these symptoms, they will gradually alleviate and finally disappear. Clinical manifestations of social phobia Social phobia, also known as social anxiety disorder (SAD), usually occurs between the ages of 17 and 30, with almost the same incidence in men and women. It often occurs suddenly without obvious triggers, and the central symptom revolves around the fear of being scrutinized in small groups. Once they find that others are paying attention to them, they feel unnatural, dare not raise their heads, dare not look at others, and even feel ashamed. They dare not speak in public or sit in the front of the party, so they avoid socializing. In extreme cases, it can lead to social isolation. Common fear objects are the opposite sex, strict bosses, parents of the fiancé (wife), or acquaintances. It may be accompanied by low self-esteem and fear of criticism, and may have symptoms such as blushing, hand tremors, nausea or urgency to urinate. The symptoms may develop to the extent of panic attacks. Clinical manifestations may be isolated and limited to eating in public, speaking in public, or meeting the opposite sex, or they may be generalized to almost all situations outside the family. Some patients may often have prominent fear of squares and depressive disorders; some patients may relieve anxiety through substance abuse and eventually lead to substance dependence, especially alcohol dependence. |
