Why are your hands numb in the morning? Beware of four diseases!

Generally speaking, if you are healthy, there will be no abnormalities when you get up in the morning. However, if you experience numbness in your hands when you get up in the morning, you should pay more attention. Because there are many diseases that can cause such symptoms, let's take a look at the diseases that are likely to cause numbness in your hands.

1. Upper limb nerve compression:

The first is numbness and pain in the thumb, index and middle fingers, which often cause waking up at night due to numbness. The symptoms improve after waking up and moving around. In severe cases, there may be atrophy of the hand muscles, which affects the fine movements of the hand. This is because the median nerve is compressed in the wrist, which is the so-called "carpal tunnel syndrome". The second is numbness and pain in the ring and little fingers, which may also cause waking up at night due to numbness. In severe cases, there is atrophy of the muscles, and the flexion force of the ring and little fingers decreases, which affects fine movements. This is because the nerve is compressed in the elbow, which is the so-called "cubital tunnel syndrome".

2. Cervical spondylosis:

The most common disease causing hand numbness is cervical spondylosis, which is one of the common diseases among middle-aged and elderly people. When people enter middle age, some organs tend to undergo degenerative changes. When the cervical intervertebral discs degenerate, it often leads to cervical disc herniation or articular process hyperplasia or hypertrophy. Once these herniated cervical discs or hyperplastic articular processes compress the adjacent cervical nerve roots, cervical spondylosis will occur. In addition to numbness and abnormal sensation in the fingers, cervical spondylosis is also accompanied by other symptoms, such as bone and muscle pain in the neck and shoulders, radiating pain or mobility impairment in the upper limbs, etc. Diagnosing cervical spondylosis is not difficult, just take an X-ray. There is also a simple method to check cervical spondylosis. One person holds the head on the affected side and holds the upper limb on the affected side with one hand, abducting it 90°, and pushes and pulls in opposite directions with both hands at the same time. Those who experience radiating pain or numbness can be preliminarily diagnosed with cervical spondylosis.

3. Stroke:

Another common disease that causes numbness in the hands is stroke. The book "Wei Sheng Bao Jian·Zhong Zhi Men" once said: "If a person first feels numbness in the thumb or index finger or cannot use it, he will have a stroke within three years." It is necessary to prevent it: be careful about daily life, eat in moderation, avoid sex, and be calm. Although numbness in the fingers does not necessarily lead to a stroke, for middle-aged people over 40 years old, if they often have symptoms such as headache, dizziness, heavy head and light feet, numbness of limbs, swelling of the tongue, and the patient also has high blood pressure, high blood fat, diabetes, cerebral arteriosclerosis and other diseases, they should pay more attention and be alert to the occurrence of stroke.

4. Menopausal syndrome:

Women who enter menopause sometimes experience numbness in their hands, but it is not obvious and will disappear with the end of menopause.
