Don’t be careless if you bruise easily, beware of this disease!

If you have a bump on your body, you will get bruises of varying sizes on your skin. If you have no external injuries, but your skin is always prone to bruises, you should pay attention to it. In medicine, this condition is actually a disease called purpura.

Bruise = Purpura

Bruise is called "purpura" in medicine. When blood escapes from capillaries into the skin or subcutaneous tissue, bleeding spots of varying sizes will appear on the skin, which is medically called purpura. Diseases that cause subcutaneous bleeding are mostly allergic purpura (Sherman-Henner disease) caused by vascular system disorders, and primary thrombocytopenic purpura caused by thrombocytopenia.

Allergic purpura

Allergic purpura is an allergic disease characterized by capillary vasculitis. The main symptoms include skin purpura, gastrointestinal symptoms, joint pain and urinary system symptoms. It is more common in children over 5 years old.

Causes

The cause is still unclear, but it may be caused by an allergic reaction to a certain allergen, but the direct allergen is still unknown. Before the onset of the disease, there is often an upper respiratory tract infection caused by hemolytic streptococci, and the disease occurs after a latent period of 1 to 3 weeks.

In addition, viruses such as measles and mumps, parasites such as roundworms and hookworms, foods such as eggs, fish, shrimps, drugs such as chloramphenicol and salicylate, and other substances such as insect bites and pollen may all become allergens, causing autoimmune reactions in the body and resulting in inflammatory changes in capillaries.

【Clinical manifestations】

The onset is relatively acute. In addition to general symptoms such as fever, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting, the main manifestations include skin purpura, gastrointestinal symptoms, joint pain, and urinary system symptoms. The onset of the disease may be different in different cases, with skin purpura being the most common, which may appear alone or accompanied by joint, gastrointestinal, or urinary system symptoms at the same time or successively.
