Urinary tract infection is a common disease in clinical practice, and it is believed that men will not suffer from this disease. On the contrary, the incidence rate of men has even exceeded that of women. Therefore, this disease should attract the attention of the public. So, what exactly causes men to suffer from urinary tract infection?

Escherichia coli:

More than 95% of urinary tract infections are caused by a single bacterium. Among them, 90% of outpatients and about 50% of inpatients are caused by Escherichia coli, which can be classified into more than 140 serotypes. The uropathogenic Escherichia coli is the same type as the Escherichia coli isolated from the patient's feces and is more common in asymptomatic bacteriuria or uncomplicated bacteriuria.

Candida albicans:

Novel Cryptococcal infections are common in patients with diabetes, those taking glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants, and after kidney transplantation. Staphylococcus aureus is common in bacteremia and septicemia caused by skin trauma and drug addicts. Although viral and mycoplasma infections are rare, they have been increasing in recent years. Various bacterial infections are seen in indwelling urinary catheters, neurogenic bladder, stones, congenital malformations, and vaginal, intestinal, and urethral fistulas.

Other pathogens:

Proteus, Aerobacterium, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Streptococcus faecalis, etc. are seen in patients with reinfection, indwelling catheter, and complications of urine infection.

Pathogenesis

1. Bacterial colonies spread from the intestines and around the urethral opening to the urethra.

2. Through urine reflux, bacteria move retrograde in the urinary tract and bind to the corresponding receptors of the epithelial cells of the urinary tract, multiply locally, and cause inflammation.

3. Through the turbulent flow of urine in the ureters, bacteria ascend to the kidneys. If the inflammation is not controlled in time, it will cause damage to kidney tissue and eventually fibrosis.
