3. Thyroiditis has a slow onset and is often discovered accidentally. The volume is about 2 to 3 times that of a normal thyroid gland, with a smooth surface and a tough and elastic texture like rubber. Obvious nodules are rare, without tenderness, and without adhesion to the surrounding area. It can move with swallowing. In the late stage, a few patients may experience mild local compression symptoms.
