What are the causes of spinal fractures? How to give first aid?

In daily life, men are the most common group of people who suffer from fractures, and the frequency of spinal fractures is very high, which often occurs in accidental injuries. So, what are the causes of spinal fractures?

Causes of spinal fractures:

Except for a few cases of direct violent factors such as gunshot wounds, explosions, collisions, etc., the vast majority of spinal fractures are caused by indirect external forces. For example, if a patient falls from a height and lands on the feet or buttocks first, the spine will bend forward violently, resulting in a flexion fracture; if the patient falls on his back and the back or waist is blocked, causing the spine to extend too far, it can cause a hyperextension fracture.

First aid measures:

After a spinal fracture, the patient cannot be easily moved and should be fixed on the spot according to the patient's post-injury posture. When the patient is in a prone position, place the vertical board close to the spine in an "I" shape, and press the vertical board with two horizontal boards and place them horizontally on the shoulders and lumbar sacral region. Before fixation, place gauze, cotton and other soft items on the protruding and concave parts of the spine. Then, first fix the shoulders and tie the triangular bandage or cloth belt in front of the chest, and then fix the lumbar sacral region. If the patient is in a supine position and does not need to be moved, you can simply place soft pads under the waist, knees, ankles and beside the body to fix the body position.
