Four signs of ankle fracture sequelae

Because many people like to go out for sports, and during sports, you may get injured if you are not careful. For example, when playing basketball, if you land on the ball of your foot after jumping high, you may sprain your ankle or even fracture your ankle. So, what are the symptoms of ankle fracture?

1. Limited ankle joint mobility:

Patients with bone fractures often have to undergo a period of "immobilization" treatment, but after the fixation is removed, it is found that the soft tissue around the joint is adhered and contracted, thus affecting the mobility of the joint. If the mobility of the ankle joint is not restored, the walking posture will be affected. Therefore, after removing the external fixation, it is key to mobilize the ankle joint as soon as possible.

2. Local microcirculation disorder of the lateral ankle:

Lateral ankle fractures are often accompanied by varying degrees of damage to the surrounding soft tissues and capillaries, which will affect the repair of soft tissues. When the human body stands and walks, due to gravity and local blood circulation obstruction, blood return to the lower limbs is often blocked, resulting in local swelling and pain, but this is a stage that must be experienced in the recovery process after trauma, and there is no need to be nervous.

3. Decreased proprioception of the lower limbs:

There are many proprioceptive receptors around the joints of the human body, which are the "control system" of the human brain to the limbs. Trauma can cause different degrees of damage to these receptors, which is why patients may still limp or feel unable to walk fast or run after a bone fracture has healed. Patients need to undergo professional balance and exercise training after the bone fracture has basically healed in order to gradually recover.

4. Fear of pain:

Everyone feels pain differently after an injury, but everyone has the same instinctive protection for the injured limb (such as not daring or being afraid to move the injured limb). Therefore, it is recommended that the injured should accept the advice of the attending physician, and when informed that they can move, they should try to overcome their fear and exercise according to the doctor's instructions.
