The male reproductive organs consist of two parts: the external male reproductive organs and the internal male reproductive organs. The external male reproductive organs include the male genitals and scrotum. The internal male reproductive organs include the male testicles, epididymal cysts, ejaculatory ducts, seminal vesicles, male prostate, vas deferens, etc. in the scrotum. 1. Reproductive organs The male genitals are the organs of sexual intercourse for men, as well as the organs of urination and ejaculation. They are composed of three long columnar penile corpora cavernosa and the muscle fascia and skin wrapped on the outside. The skin of the male genitals is thin and soft, and the skin folds wrapped around the glans penis are called prepuce. The size of the male genitals may vary due to racial and individual differences. Generally, the length of the penis of a mature Asian man is more than 4 cm when soft, and more than 7 cm when hard. The scrotum is an outer surface that encloses the male testicles, epididymal cysts, spermatic flexures and the scrotal section of the ejaculatory duct. The skin of the scrotum is very thin, with abundant sebaceous glands and skin glands on the surface. The contraction and relaxation of the scrotum can adjust the temperature of the scrotum, so that the testicles are always in an environment of about 35℃ (1.5-2.5℃ lower than the temperature in the abdomen), which is beneficial to the production and growth of sperm. 2. Internal genitalia The male testicle is a key reproductive organ for men. It is also the area that produces male sperm and metabolizes androgen. The testicle of an adult male is about 4.5cm long, 2.5-3.5cm wide, 2-3cm thick, and weighs about 20-30g. The size of the testicle usually varies with age and race. The epididymal cyst is located on the posterior side of the male testicle and is divided into three parts: the head, body, and tail. Sperm enters the epididymal cyst from the male testicle and further grows and develops in the epididymal cyst, which is also a warehouse for storing sperm. The ejaculatory ducts are two thin circular tubes about 40 cm long, connected to the tail end of the epididymal cyst at the proximal end and to the vas deferens at the distal end. They are the safe channels for male sperm to be discharged from the epididymal cyst. The seminal vesicle not only stores sperm, but is also a metabolic organ. Its secretions not only provide energy for sperm, but also have a stabilizing and protective effect on sperm. Its alkaline metabolic components can ensure the survival and activity of sperm in the female reproductive system. The male prostate is a metabolic organ of the human body. Its secretions play a protective role on the function and activity of male sperm, and also participate in the whole process of sperm vaporization, so that the thick semen slowly vaporizes in the female reproductive system, thus promoting the smooth entry of male sperm into the female reproductive system. When sexual impulse is about to reach its climax, the bulbourethral gland metabolizes a transparent and clear viscous protein that has the function of lubricating the urethra opening and is also a component of male ejaculation semen. |
