There are many reasons for male infertility, such as long-term exposure to high temperatures, chronic contact with heavy metals, decreased testicular spermatogenesis, etc. Men should undergo a comprehensive examination when checking for infertility to avoid missing the real cause of male infertility and delaying treatment.

1: Urethra. Urethritis or bacterial or viral infection can directly or indirectly affect sperm production and motility, leading to infertility.

2: Prostate. Prostatic fluid accounts for 30% of semen, providing nutrients for sperm. If the prostate is inflamed or infected, it will change the composition of semen, reduce sperm survival rate and activity, and cause oligospermia, dead sperm, poor liquefaction, etc., resulting in infertility.

3: Seminal vesicle and vas deferens. Seminal vesicle fluid accounts for 60% of semen. The seminal vesicle and vas deferens have the function of transporting and storing sperm. If inflammation, adhesion, or blockage occurs in these vesicles, infertility may result.

4: Epididymis. The epididymis connects the vas deferens and testicles and stores mature sperm. Invasion by pathogenic microorganisms, inflammatory reactions or other diseases can lead to infertility.

5: Testicles. The sperm production factory. If the testicles are underdeveloped or affected by other diseases, it is easy to have azoospermia or poor sperm quality, leading to infertility.

6: Sex hormones. If the levels of sex hormones such as androgens are out of balance, spermatogenesis disorders and reduced sperm motility will occur, leading to infertility.

7: Sexual dysfunction. Male sexual dysfunction such as impotence and premature ejaculation prevents sperm from entering the female vagina normally, resulting in inability to conceive.

8: Ejaculation dysfunction. Such as non-ejaculation, retrograde ejaculation, etc., which prevents sperm and semen from being ejected normally into the female vagina, resulting in the inability of women to become pregnant.

9: Immune factors. Antigens in semen react adversely with the human immune system, producing anti-sperm antibodies, leading to infertility.

10: Semen and sperm quality. Oligospermia, azoospermia, necrospermia, low sperm survival rate, poor motility, sperm deformity, poor semen liquefaction, etc. are the most direct and main causes of male infertility.

Through a systematic examination of the male reproductive system, endocrine system and systemic factors, it is possible to determine which link is causing infertility.
