The disease comes on suddenly and violently. What are the symptoms of spermatic cord torsion?

Young men may be unfamiliar with the disease of spermatic cord torsion, but married men are more familiar with this disease because many men around us are patients with this disease. In order to let more male friends understand this disease, experts will analyze the symptoms of spermatic cord torsion.

Symptoms of spermatic cord torsion

Spermatic cord torsion is a very sudden and severe disease. The testicle and scrotum on the affected side will be severely painful. The pain is in the scrotum at the beginning of the torsion, and then gradually spreads to the lower abdomen and perineum. At the same time, vomiting, nausea or fever will occur, and the genitals will be red, swollen and tender. Because the spermatic cord is also torsion, the blood vessels in the spermatic cord are cut off, and the testicle lacks blood supply. If it is not treated in time, the testicle will suffer from ischemic necrosis, the color will gradually turn black, and gradually atrophy, resulting in loss of function.

Symptoms of spermatic cord torsion

The main symptoms of spermatic cord torsion are pain and swelling. If it occurs in children, it is even more difficult to diagnose. Children usually have unexplained anorexia and restlessness, and the disease usually develops quickly. Sometimes the treatment of the disease is delayed due to the lack of a clear diagnosis, which brings some unnecessary harm to the patient.

Spermatic cord torsion is usually corrected by surgery.

The normal testicle is connected to the scrotum by a small ligament at the root. When the connection is loose, the spermatic cord will twist. Once twisting occurs, it will seriously affect the blood supply to the testicle. Spermatic cord twisting is an acute disease and generally requires surgical treatment, which should be performed within 5 hours of the onset of symptoms. During the operation, a small incision is made in the scrotum. After the testicle is repositioned, it is fixed with absorbable sutures. It is best to fix the unaffected testicle as well, because this disease tends to occur bilaterally, and the normal side may also twist in the future. After the operation, ice can be applied to relieve pain and edema. At the same time, the scrotum should be supported and fixed with a T-band for one week to gradually restore normal function. If the best time for surgery is missed, the testicles will atrophy and testicular function will be lost.
