What are the dangers of an enlarged prostate?

Men's physical health is particularly important in daily life. However, due to various reasons, many men do not pay attention to their health in daily life, especially to the conditioning of the body. This will lead to various male diseases, among which enlarged prostate is a situation and also a disease. After this situation occurs, we must pay attention to it and actively treat it. So, what are the dangers of enlarged prostate? Let's find out.

The dangers of prostate enlargement

1. Obstructive symptoms are mainly caused by prostatic hypertrophy blocking the urinary tract and compressing the bladder neck, and also include the reaction of the bladder itself to overcome the obstruction.

① Frequent urination is an early signal, especially the increase in nocturnal urination is more clinically significant. Generally speaking, the number of nocturnal urinations is often parallel to the degree of prostate hyperplasia. Elderly people who were unable to get up at night urinate 1-2 times at night, which often reflects the onset of early obstruction, and the development from 2 times a night to 4-5 times a night or even more indicates the development and aggravation of the disease.

② Weak urination, thin urine stream and dribbling urine. Due to the obstruction of the enlarged prostate, the patient has to use greater force to overcome the resistance when urinating, which makes urination difficult. The enlarged prostate presses the urethra and causes the urine stream to become thin. As the disease progresses, there may also be symptoms such as interrupted urination and dribbling after urination.

③Hematuria.

④ Urinary retention. In patients with advanced prostatic hypertrophy, when the obstruction is severe, acute urinary retention may occur due to the inability to excrete urine due to cold, drinking, holding urine for too long, or infection.

2. The main complications of obstruction include infection, hydronephrosis, uremia, etc.

① Infection: Just as a blocked river is prone to contamination, the urinary tract obstructed at the bladder neck is very prone to acute urinary tract infection, which is manifested by a sudden increase in the number of nocturia, urgency, pain, hematuria, and fever.

② Hydronephrosis When prostatic hyperplasia is severe and lasts for a long time, the bladder and upper urinary tract compensation function is incomplete, which can lead to ureteral and renal pelvis hydrops. When the hydrops is severe, a "lump" can be felt in the abdomen - an enlarged kidney; when the bladder is full, a "lump" can also be felt in the lower abdomen - an enlarged bladder.

③ For patients with prostatic hypertrophy who develop uremia and cause hydronephrosis, the renal parenchyma is compressed, which may cause renal insufficiency - uremia. Symptoms include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, anemia, etc. Since such symptoms are relatively hidden at first and lack specificity, they are easily ignored or misdiagnosed as digestive tract diseases and are not discovered until headaches, dullness, drowsiness, or even coma occur, which is worthy of vigilance.

④ Others: Some patients with prostatic hypertrophy may experience changes in sexual desire, some with hypersexuality, some with hyposexuality, and a small number of patients may have hematospermia.

Through the above introduction, we know the dangers of an enlarged prostate. This also needs to be paid attention to in normal times, especially during the treatment period. Patients should also pay attention to the conditioning in their daily lives. We should live a regular life and not stay up late. We should also pay attention to our diet, eat more light vegetables and fruits, and drink more water.
