Is it normal to have edema after circumcision surgery?

Many men have the problem of foreskin being too long, and finally have to choose surgery to treat this disease. However, after carefully choosing the surgery, men who have had such experience will be confused and nervous. There will be some edema after the gauze is removed during the surgery. I don’t know if this is normal. Below, I will tell you what symptoms will appear after circumcision surgery and how should patients be cared for after the surgery?

We all know that prepuce is a common male disease in life. It not only affects the patient himself, but also affects the genital hygiene of his partner. Therefore, the best way is surgical treatment. So how should the patient be cared for after the operation? The following is an introduction to the recovery method after prepuce surgery for everyone to understand.

1. Patients with prepuce hyperplasia will have mild edema at the wound after surgery, which is a normal postoperative reaction and does not require special treatment. However, if blisters appear, or the edema is severe, or the glans is bruised and bloody, you should go to the hospital for treatment immediately. Children will have more obvious edema after surgery, which will affect urination, so pay special attention to keeping the gauze clean.

2. The sutures for phimosis generally do not need to be removed after surgery, and they will fall off automatically in about a week. The wound will heal in about a week, but it may still split open if there is vigorous exercise or trauma after healing. If the wound splits open once, it can be healed by changing the dressing if there is no bleeding. If it splits open multiple times, please go to the hospital for treatment.

3. Since the penis has a good blood supply and strong anti-infection ability, oral antibiotics for one week are generally sufficient after ordinary circumcision. For patients with phimosis, if the peeling surface of the glans skin is relatively large during the operation, there is a lot of bleeding, and it is estimated that the recovery time is relatively long, appropriate intravenous infusion of antibiotics can be used.

4. Patients with prepuce hyperplasia should avoid standing, sitting or walking for a long time after surgery. If you sit for a long time, it will lead to poor blood circulation in the perineum, aggravate the swelling of the surgical incision, and affect the healing of the wound.

5. It is most common within 24 hours after the operation. If the amount of bleeding is not large, no special treatment is required and the bleeding can usually stop on its own. If the incision bleeding does not stop, blood keeps dripping from the gauze, or the patient is unable to determine the condition of the wound, go to the hospital for treatment immediately.

It is worth reminding the editor that within one week after the operation, the patient should try to avoid sexual stimulation and fantasy, and hold urine to avoid repeated erections of the penis that affect the healing of the wound or re-bleeding; sexual intercourse is prohibited within 30 days after the operation to prevent the incision from splitting or bleeding. However, the editor reminds that the wound will heal differently depending on individual circumstances.
