What causes testicular pain?

Testicular pain is a big problem for men. It can be caused by testicular disease, epididymis disease or spermatic cord disease. Testicular pain can also be caused by orchitis. Testicular pain can feel swollen and painful, similar to a knife cut. Some patients have mild testicular pain, which can last for a few minutes or a few days. Testicular torsion is a common cause of testicular pain.

Testicular injury causes testicular pain. Testicles are more mobile in the scrotum and are protected by a tough white membrane, so the chance of closure injury is relatively small. Testicular injury is mostly related to violence, car accidents, etc. Orchitis is a common cause of testicular pain. There are many causes of orchitis. For example, patients with mumps may suffer from orchitis, which can cause testicular pain and swelling.

Testicular ischemic pain is more common in the elderly. The pain is more severe, aggravated during activity, relieved during rest, and normal in prostate microscopy. It is often caused by sclerosis of the testicular arteries leading to arterial stenosis. Male urogenital infections such as balanitis, seminal vesiculitis, epididymitis, varicocele, cystitis, etc. can cause testicular soreness. Some patients with prostatitis only have glans pain. Some male patients with phimosis may develop infection one week after circumcision, which can cause testicular soreness.

The testicles are located in the scrotum, one on each side. The testicles secrete male hormones, which play an important role in the development and maturation of male reproductive organs and the appearance of male secondary sexual characteristics. There are many causes of orchitis. For example, patients with mumps may suffer from orchitis, which can cause testicular pain and swelling. Gonorrhea is the most common sexually transmitted disease, which can cause orchitis in severe cases. Chronic prostatitis can also cause testicular pain, which manifests as unilateral pain, mostly dull pain or pulling pain, which is persistent. Most patients are young and strong, and it is rare in the elderly.

Sometimes the specific cause of testicular pain cannot be found. In this case, the focus of treatment should be on sedation and analgesia. Procaine injection is often chosen to relieve pain. If it has been determined that bacterial infection causes testicular pain, antibiotics can be used for treatment. If urethritis or prostatitis causes testicular pain, then the focus of treatment should be on prostatitis and urethritis.
