1. Preparation of the urethral opening can be divided into two methods: disinfection and cleaning:

Use disinfection

Grasp the penis with your left hand, with the urethral opening facing upwards, and disinfect the urethral opening.

Disinfection method: Use iodine cotton sticks to wipe from the inside to the outside of the urethra opening of the glans penis in a circular motion (repeat three times)

Use cleaning method

You can clean the penis with mild soap and water.

2. Use your right hand to hold the blue stopper at the front end of the catheter and remove the catheter. (Or put on gloves first and then perform steps 1-2)

3. Use sterile lubricant to lubricate the front end of the catheter. For male patients, it should be about 3-4 inches (7.5-10 cm).

4. Bite the blue plug with your mouth and then use the tweezers to hold the front end of the catheter. Slowly insert the catheter along the urethra until the catheter is almost fully inserted. The insertion length for male patients is about 3-4 inches (7.5-10 cm). (Or you don't need to bite it with your mouth, just hold the front end of the catheter with your right hand and slowly insert the catheter until the catheter is almost fully inserted)

5. Use your left hand to fix and press the catheter to prevent it from slipping and urine from leaking out. First, place a container of urine under the catheter opening, then use your right hand to open the blue stopper to allow urine to flow out. Press the bladder to drain the urine completely.

6. After catheterization, slowly remove the catheter while pressing the bladder to drain all the urine out.

7. Prepare three sterile cotton swabs and dip them in saline for cleaning. Use the cotton swabs in a circular motion, wiping from the inside to the outside of the urethral opening of the glans penis (repeat three times).

8. Measure the amount of urine drawn out.
