Men are more at risk of breast cancer than women

For a long time, people have not known much about male breast cancer compared to female breast cancer. According to a large-scale survey in the United States, the incidence of male breast cancer has increased by 25% in the past 30 years. Although my country has not yet been listed as a high-incidence area, the incidence of male breast cancer is on the rise.

So why do men get breast cancer?

There are many factors that predispose men to breast cancer, including:

1. Genetics: About 20% of male patients with breast cancer have relatives who suffer from similar diseases. Therefore, genetic factors are an important cause of male breast cancer. But more inducing factors still come from acquired factors. Regardless of whether it is caused by congenital factors or acquired factors, men with male hormone deficiency and excessive female hormone secretion are more likely to develop breast cancer.

2. Visceral organs: Liver problems may also lead to male breast cancer. The liver plays an important role in sex hormone metabolism because it produces binding proteins that carry hormones in the blood. These binding proteins can affect the activity of hormones. Men with serious liver problems, such as men with cirrhosis, have low levels of male hormones and high levels of female hormones in their bodies. Therefore, they are relatively more likely to develop gynecomastia or breast cancer. In addition, long-term abnormal liver function can easily lead to breast cancer.

3. Exercise: Lack of activity and obesity are also a reason. Studies have found that physical activity can reduce the chance of women developing breast cancer, while middle-aged obesity increases the probability of breast cancer. The reason is that fat cells convert male hormones into female hormones. This means that obese men have higher levels of female hormones in their bodies. Some obese men find that their beards do not grow as fast as normal men, and their fertility is usually limited. Regular exercise and maintaining weight can reduce the chance of many diseases and cancers.

4. Radiation: Like other cancer-inducing factors, strong radiation is also an important one. When a man's chest is exposed to a large amount of radiation, it may induce the occurrence of breast cancer.

Due to lack of awareness, even if breast hyperplasia occurs, men always laugh it off, and never think that they may have breast cancer. I hope men can take care of their bodies and stay away from breast cancer, otherwise, it is more dangerous than women.
