What can a male prostate ultrasound test reveal?

Male prostate B-ultrasound is to use B-type ultrasound to examine the male prostate. It is used in clinical medicine to measure the shape, size and location of the male prostate. It can be used to diagnose prostate hyperplasia, prostate tumors, stones, thickening, as well as prostate abscesses, cysts and chronic prostatitis. It can also be used to detect the location of the aluminum alloy support tube of the male prostate urethra. It is suitable for patients suspected of suffering from male prostate hyperplasia, and is also commonly seen in routine physical examinations of healthy men.

Prostatitis is a complex clinical manifestation of inflammation of the male prostate caused by various reasons and causes, including immune and neuroendocrine involvement, resulting in urethral irritation and chronic pelvic pain as key clinical symptoms. The clinical symptoms of prostatitis are diverse, and pain and discomfort may occur in the perineum, supraphalic area, groin, and sexual organs; symptoms of the urethra are burning sensation during urination, inability to hold urine, frequent and urgent urination, and painful urination, which may be accompanied by hematuria or purulent secretions at the end of urination; subacute infection may be accompanied by chills, fever, fatigue and other systemic symptoms.

The onset of prostatitis may also be related to season, diet, sexual activity, inflammation of the urogenital system, prostatic hyperplasia or lower urinary tract syndrome, job position, socioeconomic development and mental and psychological disorders.

Prostatitis examination

1. EPS routine physical examination

EPS routine physical examinations generally use wet photographs and blood cell counting plate microscopy, the latter of which has greater accuracy. The number of white blood cells in normal semen residues should be less than 10 per line of sight under a high-power microscope. If the total white blood cell count in the semen is >10/line of sight, it is highly likely to be prostatitis, especially if macrophages containing human fat are found in the semen, which can basically diagnose prostatitis. However, the total white blood cell count in the semen of some patients with chronic bacterial infection of the semen may be visible; and some normal men have a total white blood cell count in their semen >10/line of sight. Therefore, the examination of the white blood cell count in semen is only an auxiliary method for semen bacteriological examination.

2. Routine urine analysis and urine sediment examination

Routine urine analysis and urine sediment examination are auxiliary methods to eliminate urinary tract infection and confirm prostatitis.

3. Bacteriological examination

The two-cup method or the four-cup method is common. This method is especially suitable before antibiotic treatment. Specific procedures: Before collecting urine, tell the patient to drink more water, and the foreskin should be turned up for those with long foreskin. After cleaning the glans penis and urethral opening, the patient urinates and collects 1b250l of urine; urinates about 200ml again and collects 1b250l of central urine; then stops urinating, massages the prostate and collects semen; finally collects 1b250l of urine again. Each specimen is collected for microscopic examination and shaping. According to the comparison of the total number of bacterial colonies in the above specimens, it can be distinguished whether there is prostatitis or urethritis.

4. Other laboratory tests

Patients with prostatitis may experience abnormalities in semen quality, such as an increase in white blood cells, sperm liquefaction, ejaculation bleeding, and decreased sperm motility.
