Symptoms of folliculitis at the base of the penis

Symptoms of folliculitis at the base of the penis

Folliculitis is a skin disease that can be suffered by both men and women. It is mainly caused by bacterial infection of hair follicles, which leads to purulent inflammation. For men, it will grow on the penis. Because of its special location, it is difficult to treat and maintain daily health. Therefore, it is recommended that men should have a preliminary understanding of the symptoms of folliculitis at the root of the penis, so as to detect and treat it in time.

The genitals and other places with pubic hair in young men are prone to the disease. The accompanying folliculitis symptoms include: some people with poor physical constitution or poor hygiene conditions may develop into more serious infections due to repeated attacks of folliculitis, with the appearance of rashes and warts. The examination and testing of genital folliculitis requires bacterial culture of pus in the abscess head to clarify what kind of bacterial infection is causing it. Some severe patients may also have an increase in white blood cells in the ear.

The rash of folliculitis in the genitals of young men is initially a pinhead-sized red follicular papule with an itchy feeling and obvious inflammatory erythema around it. It quickly turns into a millet-sized pustules with hair piercing the center. Most of the pustules appear in batches and do not merge. The wall of the pustules is thin. After the pustules burst, there is a small amount of purulent secretion, and there is spontaneous itching and mild tingling. After a few days, it dries up and forms a yellow scab. It heals when the scab falls off without leaving scars, but it is easy to relapse.

The course of vulvar folliculitis is usually chronic, stubborn, and difficult to cure. Antibiotics can be used as appropriate for treatment. Topical application of 1% neomycin ointment, mupirocin ointment, fusidic acid ointment, or 2% iodine tincture can be used. Ultraviolet irradiation can also be used. For patients with recurrent attacks, self-made vaccines or polyvalent staphylococcal vaccines can be used.

How to prevent folliculitis in daily life

Folliculitis on the head

Do not use products such as conditioner on the scalp, and try to reduce contact, including moisturizing and styling products used on dry hair. Be sure to distinguish between scalp care and hair care products. Rinse your hair with running water as much as possible. The water pressure will squeeze out the dirt in the hair follicles, and the washing must be thorough. You can wash it twice when appropriate.

Chest folliculitis

The treatment of chest folliculitis has a lot to do with care, which usually requires attention to skin cleanliness, not wearing tight or hard clothes, strengthening physical exercise, and enhancing resistance.

Folliculitis on the back

The causes of back folliculitis are complex and are closely related to low immunity, trauma, humidity, heat, sweating and personal constitution. Therefore, for back folliculitis, you should pay attention to the cleanliness of the local skin and avoid the stimulation of harmful substances and humid environment. When bathing, it is recommended to use a healthy skin care shower gel that does not contain triclosan, soap, alcohol, pigments and other harmful chemical ingredients to gently clean the skin surface and hair follicle dirt and relieve skin itching symptoms.

After understanding the cleaning and care measures for areas prone to folliculitis, you should also take proper precautions in your diet, eat less alcohol, sour, spicy and other irritating foods, eat more fruits and vegetables, keep your bowels open, avoid scratching and irritation, and prevent the recurrence of folliculitis.
