Why is sperm transparent?

Many men are very confused about the characteristics and color of sperm. Normally, male sperm is a little milky white, but some men's sperm is transparent. Transparent sperm is affected by many factors, and there are many possibilities to consider. In this case, it is possible that the sperm is thin due to certain diseases. So why is the male sperm transparent?

1. Sperm is produced by the testicles. Seminal plasma is secreted by the prostate, seminal vesicles and bulbourethral glands. Seminal plasma contains sugar and protein, which are nutrients for sperm. In addition, seminal plasma also contains prostaglandins and some enzymes. Normal semen is milky white or light yellow, and the number of sperm per milliliter is generally between 60 million and 200 million. Motile sperm account for more than 60% of the total. Abnormal sperm should be less than 10% of the total. Sperm motility lasts for 3-4 hours at room temperature. If semen is to be taken for examination, it should not be ejaculated within 5 days before the examination. It is best to collect semen by masturbation, and it can also be collected during sexual intercourse with a condom. After the semen is collected, it should be placed in a dry and clean bottle and sent for examination immediately.

2. The color of normal male semen just ejaculated is grayish white or slightly yellowish. After liquefaction, it becomes translucent milky white. For those who have not ejaculated for a long time, it may appear slightly light yellow. If the semen appears yellow-green, it means that there may be inflammation in the male reproductive tract or accessory glands (such as prostatitis and seminal vesiculitis). If the semen is red (including bright red, light red, dark red or soy sauce color), you should highly suspect that the semen contains blood (hematospermia); it is recommended that you go to a regular specialist infertility hospital for a comprehensive examination, find out the cause, and treat it as soon as possible, so as to ensure your right to have children.

3. The color of semen is related to the amount of semen. Sometimes semen is transparent and colorless, sometimes it is milky white, or even light yellow, which is normal. It mainly depends on the sperm motility, sperm survival rate, semen liquefaction time and other indicators. It is difficult to determine whether the semen is transparent or not. It is recommended to go to a local regular andrology hospital for sperm testing and combine the clinical test results for systematic treatment.
