The chance of HPV self-healing in men is also very high. HPV virus is common, with about 100 types, including various rashes, flat warts and other skin diseases are related to HPV virus. It can heal itself, generally it will get better in about a week without treatment. Most of them are fine, but 2 of them are carcinogenic and need attention.

Symptoms of HPV infection in men

1. In the early stage of HPV infection, there are light red or dirty red millet-sized tumors in the genital area. They are soft in nature, slightly pointed at the top, and gradually grow or increase in number. They can develop into papillary or cystic shapes, with a slightly wide base or bands, and granules on the surface.

2. Genital warts located in drier areas with lower humidity often have small lesions that appear as flat warts.

3. Warts located in hot and humid areas often appear filamentous or papilloma-like and easily merge into large masses.

4. The anus is often enlarged and cauliflower-like, with a moist or bleeding surface. Pus often accumulates between the particles, emitting a foul odor. Scratching may lead to secondary infection.

HPV infectiousness

In theory, HPV can be transmitted indirectly through contact with objects, including infected towels, bathtubs and toilets. Although HPV has strong resistance to the outside world and can generally survive for a few days in dry conditions at room temperature and 2 to 5 months in an environment below -20°C, HPV is cold-resistant but not heat-resistant, and begins to denature at 60°C. Usually, most disinfectants can kill HPV viruses that survive outside the body. Therefore, suspected contaminated clothing and items can be disinfected by soaking or boiling them in disinfectants in a timely manner.

What are the methods for testing for HPV?

1. Detection of HPV antigen: After the human epidermal cells are infected with the HPV virus, the HPV will proliferate in the cells and synthesize capsid protein. Immunoenzyme staining can accurately detect the HPV antigen components in the infected cells, which is very important for the diagnosis of condyloma acuminatum.

2. Detection of HPV antibodies: Studies have found that HPV antibodies are not produced in the early stages of HPV infection, so HPV antibodies may not be detected in the serum. However, as the infection time prolongs, HPV antibodies are produced, and at this stage they can be detected in the serum. This indicates that HPV antibodies appear in the late stage of condyloma acuminatum.

3. HPV-DNA test: HPV test can also extract mucus and secretions from the place where the disease has occurred. Generally, PCR technology is used because this technology has very strong sensitivity and specificity, and the operation is also very simple, and there is no high requirement for the sample of the test. PCR technology has been widely used in the examination of skin diseases and is currently the most common way of HPV examination.
