If a lump grows on the penis, you must pay attention to it. We know that the penis is a male reproductive organ. If a lump grows, it is often related to some infectious diseases. There are many causes, such as genital herpes, genital warts, etc., which may cause such symptoms. The symptoms caused by different diseases will also be different. Let us briefly understand this aspect below. There is a bump on the penis If you have small bumps on your genitals, you need to consider the possibility of genital herpes, which is caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection. Next, you need to consider syphilis, genital warts and tumors. It is recommended to see a dermatologist as soon as possible. How to diagnose genital herpes 1: Genital herpes often occurs at the junction of the skin and mucous membrane. First, the local skin becomes slightly red, and then groups of small blisters the size of a needle tip appear, with a slight itching and burning sensation. After a few days, they dry up and form brown scabs. After the scab falls off, there is slight pigmentation, but it disappears quickly. The entire course of the disease lasts an average of one week, but recurrences are common. 2. Cytological examination of herpes virus: Take cells for smear, add fluorescently labeled HSV-1 and HSV-2 monoclonal antibodies, and detect apple green fluorescent virus inclusion bodies in multinucleated giant cells under a fluorescence microscope to identify genital herpes. 3. Serological examination: It is mainly used to detect anti-HSV-1 and anti-HSV-2 antibodies, diagnose primary HSV infection, and conduct serological epidemiological surveys of HSV infection. It can be detected by immunofluorescence test, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, immunoblot test and radioimmunoassay. In modern times, HSV-2gD2 glycoprotein is used as an antigen to detect anti-HSV-2 antibodies, and HSV-1gDl or gC glycoprotein is used as an antigen to detect anti-HSV-1 antibodies. It has high sensitivity and can distinguish anti-HSV-1 from anti-HSV-2 antibodies. However, this type of test can only indicate that the patient has had an overt or latent HSV infection. 4. The incubation period of primary genital herpes is about 3 to 5 days. The affected area first has a burning sensation and erythema. Soon, 3 to 10 small blisters distributed in clusters will appear on the surface of the erythema. After a few days, they will become small abscesses. After rupturing, they will form erosions and shallow ulcers. The local area will be red and swollen, and there will be burning pain. Female patients often have labia, anus, and vagina, but about 90% of patients can also invade the cervix and cause cervicitis or metritis; male patients often have glans, coronary sulcus, urethral orifice or penis body, and sometimes urethritis may occur. Most patients have bilateral inguinal lymph node enlargement. |
