Why is there blood in the ejaculated sperm?

As we all know, men's sperm is milky white. If the ejaculated sperm contains blood, it is clinically called blood sperm. This is a very complicated men's disease. Men who ejaculate blood sperm should first exercise restraint in their sexual life. The couple's life should not be too frequent. In addition, they should avoid frequent masturbation. Then it is best to go to the hospital for a detailed examination. After finding the cause, the symptomatic treatment is given. The common causes of this symptom are as follows.

What happens if there is bleeding during ejaculation?

1. Tumors, such as cancer of the seminal vesicle and spermatocyst, papilloma of the seminal vesicle, and benign prostatic hypertrophy.

2. Diseases of the seminal vesicle and prostate, such as tuberculosis, schistosomiasis, stones, injuries of the prostate and seminal vesicle.

3. Blood diseases, such as purpura, scurvy, leukemia, etc.

4. Others, such as varicose veins of the seminal vesicle, long-term repeated compression of the perineum, liver cirrhosis with increased portal vein pressure leading to increased pressure of the hemorrhoidal veins through the collateral prostatic plexus, dilation and rupture of the posterior urethral subepithelial vein beside the seminal collateral vein, etc.

Hematospermia is mostly a benign and self-limiting disease. Its etiology is mainly seen in seminal vesicle lesions, such as seminal vesicle tuberculosis, seminal vesicle tumor, etc., especially seminal vesiculitis is the most common. Although generally speaking, hematospermia has no special relationship with some major diseases, sometimes hematospermia may be a manifestation of certain systemic diseases or serious organic diseases. Some experts have proposed that hematospermia can be caused by the collateral circulation of hemorrhoids, venous plexus and prostate and glandular plexus in cirrhosis of the liver; there are also reports that hematospermia is caused by schistosomiasis, and live schistosome larvae have been found in semen; it has also been found that hematospermia is related to hypertension, seminal vesicle cancer, renal tuberculosis and early cancer. Therefore, when hematospermia occurs, especially when it does not heal after regular antibacterial treatment, some special examinations should be conducted to rule out other possible organic diseases. Only by finding the real cause of hematospermia and treating it accordingly can a satisfactory therapeutic effect be achieved.

The discharge of red semen during ejaculation and spermatorrhea is called hematospermia in traditional Chinese medicine. Normal semen is milky white, grayish white or light yellow, while hematospermia is pink, brownish red or has blood streaks. When observed under an optical microscope, red blood cells can be seen mixed in the semen.

Due to the different bleeding sites and blood volume, the appearance of hematospermia is also different: the blood from the urethral mucosa that is congested during erection is bright red and does not mix with the semen, like mixed blood threads. Hematospermia caused by various inflammations and trauma is evenly mixed, red to brown, this is because the blood has been stored for a long time and the color has changed. Since the semen accumulated in the seminal vesicle cannot be emptied in one ejaculation, even if it is treated promptly and fully, it will take some time for hematospermia to disappear.
