Is phimosis serious?

Phimosis actually refers to the foreskin being too long. Most men are troubled by this problem. Although in modern society, more and more parents pay attention to their children's foreskin being too long, in the past, the concept of foreskin being too long was not fully understood, so many men also have foreskin being too long when they get older. If a man has phimosis, will it have a significant impact on his body?

1. Phimosis can cause premature ejaculation

In fact, since the glans penis cannot be exposed and is protected by the foreskin, the male foreskin is extremely sensitive and a little stimulating, making it easy to ejaculate.

2. Phimosis can lead to a small penis

In fact, phimosis can be the cause of male infertility. Another important factor is that phimosis can cause small penis. This is because if the existence of phimosis is not treated in time, it will limit the development of the penis. At this time, because of the existence of small penis, although it often hinders sexual intercourse, it is easier for semen to flow out of the body.

3. The foreskin is the part of the internal organs

The presence of foreskin is often the source of dirt. In addition to patients with excessive foreskin, the presence of foreskin will also accumulate a large amount of smegma. At this time, it is easy to increase the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, male diseases and even cause women to suffer from gynecological diseases. These secondary diseases may affect the quality of eggs or sperm caused by inflammatory stimulation, leading to male infertility.

What to do if a child has phimosis?

1. Daily care

After a child has phimosis, parents must pay attention to keeping the penis clean and clean the dirt accumulated in the foreskin of the glans frequently. If the foreskin is over-inflamed, you can first use anti-inflammatory drugs or hot compresses. If you urinate after the inflammation subsides, it may not be possible to surgically treat it. If you feel difficulty urinating or the foreskin is incarcerated, you should go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.

2. Surgical treatment

Generally speaking, children with phimosis can be treated after the age of three or four. If the inflammation spreads to the urinary system, the harm will be greater.

In the absence of adhesions, surgical treatment can be performed with local anesthesia, artificial dilation or inflation, to enlarge the foreskin. The vast majority of children with phimosis can be treated surgically using tracheal dilation. An anesthetic is dripped into the external circumcision before dilation, and a disposable balloon catheter is applied 2-3 minutes later. The adhesions between the foreskin and the glans penis are separated, then the foreskin is reversed to remove the smegma and a small amount of ointment is applied. Finally, the foreskin is restored to its original position and covers the glans penis. The entire operation takes only ten minutes, with only a slight bulge when the balloon is inflated and a slight discomfort when the adhesive is separated.

Circumcision is used when adhesions occur, especially when they are severe. If adhesions occur, the appearance of the glans penis will be different after removal, and the shade of the pigment will also change, affecting the appearance. Circumcision is necessary for boys because the foreskin is too tight and too long, and the operation is not complicated. Usually after the operation, the child wakes up from the anesthesia and can go home from the hospital for 1-2 days. After returning home, the child's penis may still be swollen. Parents can use antibiotic suppositories to help reduce swelling, but they must be used as prescribed.
