Drinking alcohol can check sperm quality

Drinking alcohol can check sperm quality

In fact, many people now often check their sperm quality, and always think that sperm quality testing is very important. However, some people choose to drink a little before the test in order to feel that this kind of test is natural and not so shy, so as not to be embarrassed when facing the doctor. Although drinking alcohol can make people braver, sperm cannot be checked after drinking because it will interfere.

Requirements

The subject, after a period of frequent ejaculation, abstains from sexual intercourse for 5-7 days (the interval between the last ejaculation and the sample collection must be at least 100 hours); prepare a clean dry container with a large lid, collect semen by masturbation, ejaculate all into the container at once, cover it, and record the time when the sample leaves the body; keep it close to the body for warmth, send it to the laboratory within 30 minutes, and provide the examiner with the time when the sample was taken out. Routine observation of semen: total semen volume (ml), sperm activity, sperm density (pieces/ml), semen liquefaction time (time from sample collection to semen liquefaction), immobile sperm (pieces/high-power field of view), etc.

If you see immobile sperm, you need to stain them to distinguish them into: inactive sperm, dead sperm, immature sperm, etc.

If sperm cannot be found, the test must be performed after centrifugation. If sperm cannot be found after three sampling tests, azoospermia can be confirmed.

Check time

Routine semen examination is an important method for evaluating male reproductive ability and is also an experimental basis for the diagnosis and treatment of male diseases. The results of routine semen examination are available in about 30 to 40 minutes, and the results of semen analysis are available in about an hour. Men should abstain from sex for five to seven days before the examination. It is recommended that both husband and wife undergo the examination at the same time for prenatal eugenics examination.

Reference value

[Clinical significance]

1. If you haven't ejaculated for several days and the amount of semen is less than 1.5ml, it is abnormal, indicating that there is a disease in the seminal vesicle or prostate. If the amount of semen is reduced to a few drops or even cannot be discharged, it is called azoospermia, which is seen in specific infections of the reproductive system, such as tuberculosis, gonorrhea and non-specific inflammation.

2. If the amount of semen is too much (more than 8 ml at a time), the sperm will be diluted and reduced accordingly, which will be detrimental to fertility.

2. Color inspection

[Normal reference value]

Grayish white or milky white, and may be light yellow if ejaculation has not occurred for a long time.

[Clinical significance]

1. Yellow or brown purulent semen: seen in seminal vesiculitis or prostatitis, etc.

2. Bright red or dark red bloody semen: seen in inflammation, tuberculosis and tumors of the reproductive system.

3. Viscosity and liquefaction inspection

[Normal reference value]

It is viscous and jelly-like and liquefies on its own within 30 minutes.

[Clinical significance]

1. The semen has low viscosity, like rice soup, which may be caused by a decrease in sperm count and is seen in reproductive system inflammation. ??

2. If the liquefaction time is too long or there is no liquefaction, it may inhibit sperm activity and affect fertility, which is common in prostatitis, etc.

4. Sperm Motility Test

[Normal reference value]

Normal sperm motility is generally above grade III (better activity, with medium-speed movement, but more wavy movement). Sperm with grade III or above motility within 1 hour after ejaculation should be >0.60.

[Clinical significance]

If the sperm count of grade 0 (dead sperm, no activity, still inactive after heating) and grade Ⅰ (poor activity, sperm spinning, swaying or shaking in place, slow movement) is above 0.40, it is often one of the important causes of male infertility.
