Male Pituitary Tumor

Male Pituitary Tumor

Male pituitary tumor is a relatively rare disease. The shape of blood vessels of men with pituitary tumor is very different from that of normal people, and the blood vessel wall is also thinner than that of normal people. If the pituitary tumor is not treated in time, it will continue to grow, and the growth rate is relatively fast. If it grows for a long time, it will bring great pressure to the male body, and in severe cases, it will cause blood vessel rupture. So, what should men with pituitary tumors do?

1. Causes of pituitary tumors in men

1. Vascular factors: We all know that the blood vessels of pituitary tumors are very abundant and irregular in shape, and the walls of the blood sinuses are very thin. The size of the pituitary tumor continues to increase, and it will not produce local pressure to cause blood vessel rupture and bleeding. Now angiography has confirmed that the blood vessels of pituitary tumors are smaller and have different diameters than those of normal glands. Under the electron microscope, it can be observed that these blood vessels are not fully mature. Under this condition, the blood vessels will become deformed, which will also cause bleeding in hemangiomas.

3. External stimulation: Traumatic injury can also cause pituitary adenoma in patients. If the head is subjected to external force and the speed of the head-guided movement is inconsistent, the movement of the tumor and the brain will be squeezed or pulled instantly, which will cause blood vessel bleeding or tumor blood vessel lesions. In this case, our body will suffer great harm because radiotherapy for pituitary tumors can increase the blood vessels in your body, increasing the chance of bleeding, which has been increasing in the past two years.

2. Treatment of Pituitary Tumors

1. Radiation therapy

Since pituitary tumors are brain diseases, they are difficult to treat. In addition, as adenoma itself, it is relatively insensitive to radiotherapy. After radiotherapy, 70% of patients will experience decreased pituitary tumor function, which will affect the patient's quality of life. Therefore, radiotherapy technology and surgical residues are the treatment methods adopted for patients who cannot tolerate surgery or are insensitive to drugs.

2. Drug treatment

For pituitary prolactin-secreting tumors, 80% of patients can be treated with drugs, because this treatment effect is relatively good and can control the PRL level, so that the size of the tumor continues to shrink. Only those patients who are allergic or intolerant to the drug need to take surgical treatment. In fact, the use of drugs can effectively prevent the tumor from continuing to grow. During the medication period, the dosage of the drug should be increased to reduce the serum level to a normal level and adjust the dosage for long-term treatment.
