The cauliflower-like polyps on the scrotum are not polyps in fact. Polyps generally do not grow outside. It is considered to be caused by condyloma acuminatum. Condyloma acuminatum is a very serious sexually transmitted disease, which is very harmful and highly contagious. It must be treated in time after the disease occurs. Therefore, when this happens, it is best to go to the hospital for diagnosis and understand the situation clearly so as to better deal with it. The incubation period is 1 to 8 months, with an average of 3 months, and it mainly occurs in sexually active people. 1. Typical condyloma acuminatum Genital and perianal areas are the most common sites. In men, it is more common in the foreskin, frenulum, coronal sulcus, glans penis, urethral orifice, penis body, perianal area, rectum and scrotum. In women, it is more common in the labia majora and minora, posterior symphysis, vestibule, clitoris, cervix and perianal area. Occasionally, it can be seen in areas other than the genitals and perianal area, such as the axilla, umbilical fossa, oral cavity, breasts and between toes. Female vaginitis and male prepuce hyperplasia are the factors that promote the occurrence of condyloma acuminatum. The lesions are initially small, light red papules, which gradually increase in size and number, distributed singly or in clusters, moist and soft, with an uneven surface, and are papillary, cockscomb-shaped or cauliflower-like protrusions. They are red or dirty gray. There is often a pedicle at the root, and erosion and exudation are prone to occur, and they bleed easily when touched. There is often accumulation of purulent secretions between the cracks of skin lesions, resulting in a foul odor, and secondary infection may occur due to scratching. This disease is often asymptomatic, and some patients may experience foreign body sensation, pain, itching or pain during sexual intercourse. Condylomas in the rectum may cause pain, blood in the stool, and a feeling of tenesmus. 2. HPV subclinical infection HPV infection is clinically invisible to the naked eye, but evidence of HPV infection can be found by acetowhitening test (local whitening after smearing or wet compressing with 5% acetic acid solution), tissue pathology or nucleic acid detection technology. 3. Relationship with tumors A large amount of epidemiological data shows that HPV infection (mainly high-risk HPV, such as HPV-16 and HPV-18) is closely related to the occurrence of genital cancers, such as cervical cancer and penile cancer. The prognosis is generally good after treatment. However, recurrence is possible regardless of the treatment method. |
