The normal amount of semen ejaculated by an adult man each time is 2-6 ml. If the amount of semen ejaculated each time is less than 2 ml, it means that there is too little semen. Too little semen may be caused by too frequent sexual intercourse and insufficient production and storage of semen. Therefore, sexual intercourse should be prohibited 5-7 days before the semen test, and there should be no spermatorrhea. At this time, a semen test will be more accurate. When the amount of semen is too small, it cannot maintain sufficient nutrition for sperm, affecting metabolism and sperm activity, which can lead to infertility. Infertility caused by mental stress or excessive sexual intercourse, insufficient production or storage of semen can be solved by adjusting the frequency of sexual intercourse, appropriately extending the interval time (1-2 times a week), eliminating stress factors, and improving work and living environment. If the amount of semen is small due to insufficient semen production caused by systemic chronic diseases, malnutrition, seminal vesiculitis, prostatitis and other diseases, the health of the body should be improved, and corresponding treatment should be actively carried out for different causes.

However, morning erections are not a "measurement" of sexual function.

The reporter learned at an academic seminar on men's health that the exact mechanism of morning penile erection has not yet been studied clearly. In any case, morning penile erection is a normal physiological reaction of men, and with the daily differences of men's bodies, the changes caused by morning erection are not consistent. You must not judge the quality of men's sexual function based on this point alone.

Some male patients, once the morning erection stops, suspect that they have erectile dysfunction (ED) and become worried. But the problem is that the more these men worry about ED, the less morning erections they will have. This is a terrible vicious cycle, because psychological anxiety will lead to physical imperfections; and physical problems will induce further psychological anxiety, and the situation will get worse and worse.

Men have more morning erections when they are 20 to 30 years old, but they gradually decrease after middle age. A German doctor studied this physiological phenomenon and found that men's morning penile erections disappear when they are sick, but they reappear when they recover. He therefore proposed that the morning penile erection phenomenon can be used as one of the reference indicators for observing men's energy and health status.

In addition, ED is divided into psychological and organic types. Patients with organic ED will not have morning erections, while patients with psychological ED are closely related to mental factors, such as fear, depression, anxiety, mental trauma, guilt, and marital discord, but there is no organic damage to the reproductive organs, so they may still have morning erections.

Dietary advice for maintaining morning erections: Eat some yam and buckwheat noodles for dinner. Yam can strengthen the spleen and stomach and cure kidney deficiency, and is a sperm-enhancing food.
