Benefits of Lycopene for Men

Benefits of Lycopene for Men

Lycopene is currently the most suitable nutrient for protecting the male prostate, because most male diseases are more or less related to the prostate. Lycopene has a good reputation for regulating the prostate, preparing for pregnancy, and improving sperm quality. Lycopene is a natural pigment contained in plants and is one of the strongest antioxidants discovered in nature so far. Let's take a look at the benefits of lycopene for men!

Benefits of lycopene for men:

1. Treatment and prevention of male prostate diseases

Lycopene itself has a strong penetration ability. Its active factors enter the prostate tissue through the human blood circulation at the highest concentration, effectively quenching free radicals and removing toxins that invade the prostate. At the same time, it can penetrate the prostate lipid capsule, enter the tissue organ, eliminate inflammation, and repair the physiological function of the prostate organ.

2. Improve male sperm quality

Lycopene can effectively improve the quality of male sperm. After entering the male body, lycopene will continue to play a role, keeping the pH value of male prostatic fluid between 6 and 6.5, which makes the movement and growth of sperm smoother, so the sperm is more active and the quality is naturally improved quickly.

3. Radiation resistance

For men, especially urban men, they are exposed to many electronic products every day. Radiation can cause aging and death of male cells, and diseases will follow. In particular, male sperm will be affected by radiation, resulting in dead sperm, which is very dangerous.

4. Lycopene regulates cell growth and metabolism

Usually, there are channels composed of membrane proteins between the intercellular gaps, which have selective permeability and allow the passage of second messengers and growth regulators. Cells transmit growth regulatory signals within the cell group through gap junction communication (GJIC) to regulate the normal proliferation and differentiation of cells. Experiments have shown that lycopene inhibits tumor growth by inducing intercellular junctions, enhancing GJIC between normal cells, controlling cell growth and inducing cell differentiation.

5. Lycopene has health benefits

The above biological properties of lycopene determine that it has many health functions such as anti-oxidation, inhibition of mutation, reduction of nucleic acid damage, reduction of cardiovascular disease and prevention of cancer.

6. Lycopene can regulate cholesterol metabolism

Lycopene is a low cholesterol agent that can inhibit macrophage 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A, which is a rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis. Experiments have found that after adding lycopene to the medium of cultured macrophages, their cholesterol synthesis is reduced, and lycopene also increases the activity of macrophage low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptors. Experiments have also shown that supplementing the human body with 60 mg of lycopene every day for 3 months can reduce the cytoplasmic LDL cholesterol concentration by 14%.

7. Prevent and inhibit tumors

Lycopene has the effect of preventing and inhibiting tumors. On the one hand, it is because of its antioxidant effect; on the other hand, lycopene can block the process of gene mutation of tissue cells under the action of external mutagen, which is one of the important mechanisms of tumor formation. Experiments have found that lycopene can affect the S phase of the cell cycle of breast, lung and uterine cancer; lycopene affects cell growth by inhibiting the transformation phase from Gl to S in the cell cycle; lycopene can inhibit the oxidation of LDL cholesterol and the formation of heterocyclic amines produced in the browning reaction of fried meat and fish, thereby effectively inhibiting the production of carcinogens and inducing tumors. Studies have shown that lycopene has a certain inhibitory effect on digestive tract cancer, cervical cancer, breast cancer, skin cancer, bladder cancer, etc.
