Redness and swelling of hair follicles after shaving

Redness and swelling of hair follicles after shaving

Beards are an important male sexual characteristic, and almost every male has a beard. But it is not easy to take care of a beard, and beards will also greatly affect a person's image, so most men choose to shave their beards. However, after shaving, many people will have the problem of redness and swelling of the hair follicles. The main problem causing this phenomenon is folliculitis caused by skin infection. Therefore, you must pay special attention when shaving!

1. Reasons for redness and swelling of hair follicles after shaving

Bacterial dermatitis folliculitis is a subacute or chronic and suppurative inflammation of the hair follicles and surrounding hair follicles caused by Staphylococcus aureus invading the hair follicles. It can be induced by dirty skin, scratching or reduced body resistance.

If you accidentally scratch your skin while shaving, or if you do not clean the shaving foam properly, it may cause infection of the hair follicles and lead to folliculitis. There are hair follicles, sebaceous glands and other skin structures under men's beards. The hair papilla at the end of the hair root in the skin contains abundant nerve endings and blood vessels. Therefore, people will feel pain when plucking their beards. Since plucking your beards can only remove the hair shafts and hair roots, but not the hair bulbs, hair papillae and hair follicles, the beards can still grow again in the future. If the skin, hair follicles or sebaceous glands are damaged when plucking your beards, the bacteria attached to the skin surface of the hands or face will take advantage of the opportunity to enter, causing folliculitis and sebaceous glanditis, forming swelling or causing swelling of the lips or even the face.

2. Seven major hazards of folliculitis

Harm 1. Itching and discomfort: The subjective symptoms of folliculitis are itching. Folliculitis on the head can stimulate the hair roots and cause severe pain, which brings physical torture to the patient;

Harm 2: Hair loss: Folliculitis occurring on the scalp can cause permanent hair loss;

Hazard 3: Repeated attacks: Chronic folliculitis; Folliculitis occurs on the neck: The skin lesions are papillary hyperplasia or scar nodules are formed, which are difficult to cure;

Harm 4. Damage to appearance: Folliculitis occurs in the head, face, neck, limbs and other hairy areas. It starts as red, solid papules, which quickly develop into papular pustules, then dry and scab over, and the scabs fall off without leaving any traces. There are many rashes, which may appear in batches, do not merge with each other, and have hard bags, which cause serious damage to the patient's appearance and damage their self-esteem.

Harm 5. Scar nodules: Occurring in the neck, it can cause papillary hyperplasia or scar nodules, which are difficult to heal.

Hazard 6. Folliculitis: Severe folliculitis may cause lymphadenopathy, fever, headache, and even septicemia or sepsis. If the swelling in the nose and lips is squeezed, the bacteria may enter the skull through the bloodstream and cause purulent thrombotic phlebitis or cerebral abscess.

Hazard 7. Death: If the swelling in the nose, mouth or lips is squeezed, the bacteria may enter the brain through the bloodstream, causing purulent thrombotic phlebitis or cerebral abscess, which may lead to death, etc.

3. Notes on shaving for men

Folliculitis caused by shaving can cause red and swollen lips. Some men like to pull out their beards, which may cause infection. There are often many male patients with lip folliculitis, swelling, and cellulitis. When asked about their medical history, they almost all have the bad habit of pulling out their beards. It is important to note that when you shave or pull out your beard every day, you must pay attention to the first thing, clean it thoroughly, and secondly, try to use tweezers as little as possible to pull out your beard, which can easily cause infection. You can use some skin repair products after shaving to prevent the occurrence of folliculitis.
