Steps for disinfection and dressing change after circumcision surgery

Many men have been troubled by foreskin problems. Now, some foreskin problems are treated with surgery. After a man has undergone circumcision surgery, it will not affect the wound when he conducts some ordinary activities. As for whether to use some medicine on the wound, it should be done under the guidance of a doctor. When some medicine is needed, you can also disinfect and change the wound yourself.

Steps for disinfection and dressing change after circumcision surgery

Steps

Prepare disposable medical gloves, disposable medical disinfection cotton swabs, hydrogen peroxide, iodine, medical gauze strips, and medical tape (all available at pharmacies, a total of about 30 yuan)

Step 2

Wash your hands and put on disposable medical gloves (on both hands). First, gently tear off the medical tape wrapped around the gauze strip on the circumcision wound. If the tape is tightly stuck, you can use two sterilized cotton swabs dipped in hydrogen peroxide to gently wipe the tape surface to remove the stickiness and reduce the pain caused by the gauze strip rubbing against the wound.

Step 3

After the tape is removed, if the wound is tightly stained with gauze, pour a bottle of hydrogen peroxide to wet the gauze. Then, gently grasp one end of the gauze with one hand and slowly pull it in the direction of untying. It will be easy to untie without worrying about pulling the wound or causing pain.

Step 4

After removing the gauze, use hydrogen peroxide to disinfect the foreskin window. Dip several cotton swabs in hydrogen peroxide and first wipe the area around the foreskin wound, the base of the penis, the scrotum and the base of the pubic region of the thigh. Then use another cotton swab dipped in hydrogen peroxide to wipe the blood from the wound and clean the wound.

Step 5

Then use a cotton swab dipped in iodine to reduce inflammation on the wound again. Finally, wrap the wound with medical gauze to prevent it from falling off and expose the glans penis. Then use medical tape to seal the connection of the gauze.

Notes

1. Wear loose underwear

Generally, after the operation, the doctor will place a gauze curtain on the perineum after dressing the wound, in order to reduce the friction of the glans penis.

2. Rest

After circumcision, you should rest in bed for 3-4 days and avoid standing or sitting for long periods of time. Some young people are too embarrassed to ask for leave after surgery and still insist on working. Due to poor local blood circulation, this directly leads to swelling of the glans penis, which affects wound healing.

2. Edema

It is normal for the glans to be slightly edematous within 3 to 4 days after circumcision. This is a reaction of the body to the medication and surgery. Note that the swelling is pink at this time.

4. Do not wet the dressing when urinating

If it has been soaked with urine, it should be replaced as soon as possible. You can prepare 75% alcohol or 1:1000 new gentamicin cotton balls or isotonic saline cotton balls, wipe the area around the urethra after urination, keep the wound dressing clean, or soak the head of the penis in 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution in warm water every day.

5. Within 3 to 4 days after surgery

Take sedatives such as diazepam 2.5 mg before going to bed to prevent penile erection, pain or bleeding. Young people should be more careful because the nerve endings of the penis head, which has been covered for a long time, are very sensitive. Once exposed, it is easy to get an erection. Therefore, they should avoid reading erotic books and watching erotic TV. Lovers should temporarily avoid hugging, kissing, etc. to avoid sexual stimulation.
