Does hydrocele affect fertility?

Hydrocele of the spermatic cord will affect reproductive health, so once similar symptoms are found, it must be treated seriously. There are common local swelling or severe pain, etc. These adverse symptoms must be checked and treated in time at the hospital.

1. History of scrotal injury or surgery, local swelling and severe pain.

2. In the early stage, the scrotum is obviously swollen and tender; in the middle stage, the hematoma gradually stabilizes, and the surface of the scrotum changes from purple-black to yellow-brown; after 2 to 3 weeks, the pain gradually eases and the swelling subsides. In a few cases, the hematoma may be accompanied by hydrocele and become translucent.

3. The secretion and absorption functions of the tunica vaginalis are unbalanced, and fluid accumulates in the tunica vaginalis sac, which is called hydrocele. Depending on the location of the hydrocele and whether it is combined with inguinal hernia, it can be divided into: testicular hydrocele, spermatic hydrocele, infantile hydrocele, congenital hydrocele, and congenital hydrocele.

4. Hydrocele is mostly primary, but can also occur secondary to tumors, inflammation and other lesions of the testicle, epididymis, and spermatic cord, as well as after surgery. Therefore, during the diagnosis and treatment process, it is important to determine the cause and nature of the hydrocele. The treatment of hydrocele is mainly surgical. The surgical method varies depending on the type of hydrocele. Congenital hydrocele should be treated with high ligation of the processus vaginalis through an inguinal incision. Spermatic hydrocele is treated with a cecal resection. Testicular hydrocele is often treated with a cecal reversal. However, the excess tunica vaginalis needs to be removed. The main complications of surgery include: testicular spermatic cord and epididymis damage, scrotal hematoma, infection, testicular atrophy, scrotal edema, etc.
