Are you prone to getting nervous? Here are four easy steps to overcome your nervousness

Everyone has nervous emotions, especially in some public occasions, when you are asked to give a speech or say a few words alone, I believe most people will feel nervous! This may be a normal physiological phenomenon of human beings, so don't worry too much. Take men for example, what methods can be used to eliminate this nervous emotion?

First, lower your expectations of yourself.

Generally speaking, people who are competitive and strive for perfection in everything and want to be the first in everything are prone to tension and anxiety. There are thousands of flowers, and people's lives are different. Everyone has their own strengths and advantages. It is neither possible nor necessary to pursue being the best in everything. You may not be as good as others in some aspects, but you are better than others in some aspects. So you should recognize the limitations of your ability and energy, lower your expectations of yourself, consider everything from a long-term and overall perspective, and not care too much about the gains and losses of a certain time and place, and not care too much about others' views and evaluations of you. Naturally, you will feel more relaxed.

Second, don’t try to “not be nervous” after you become nervous and anxious.

If you are reminded like this, you will become more "nervous" because your attention is focused on "nervousness". After you become nervous and anxious, just be nervous as long as you can. It's not a big deal, just like treating the weather changes - go with the flow and do what you need to do. As long as you stop caring about it, ignore it, and don't worry about it, then the nervousness and anxiety will naturally disappear.

Third, acknowledge and allow your shortcomings to exist

“No one is perfect, and gold is not pure.” It is precisely because of the different shortcomings of human individuals that the human society is so colorful. Therefore, we should allow ourselves to have shortcomings, not pursue perfection too much, and learn to say frankly, “I tried my best” and “This is beyond my ability.” Only by doing this can we have and enjoy life as we please, freely, easily and comfortably.

Fourth, nervousness can be overcome through self-adjustment and self-training. The specific methods are as follows:

first step:

List the various situations that can cause you tension and fear, from lightest to heaviest (the more specific and detailed the better), and copy them onto different cards. Put the least frightening situation at the front and the most frightening one at the back. Arrange the cards in order.

Step 2:

Do relaxation training. The method is to sit in a comfortable seat, take deep breaths regularly, and relax your whole body. After entering a relaxed state, take out the first card in the above series and imagine the scene on it. The more realistic and vivid the imagination is, the better.

Step 3:

If you feel a little uneasy, nervous and afraid, stop imagining, take a deep breath and relax yourself again. After completely relaxing, imagine the scene of failure again. If the uneasy and nervousness occur again, stop and relax again, and repeat this until the scene on the card no longer makes you uneasy and nervous.

Step 4:

Continue with the next scene that makes you more nervous (the next card) in the same way. Note that each time you imagine the next card, you must be no longer uneasy and nervous when imagining the previous card. Otherwise, you cannot enter the next stage.

Step 5:

When you do not feel uneasy or nervous when imagining the scene that scares you the most, you can then do the on-site exercises in order from light to heavy. If you feel uneasy or nervous at the scene, you can also take deep breaths and relax to deal with it until you are no longer afraid or nervous.
