After treatment with lysine, diabetic rats showed significantly improved erectile function.

The corpus cavernosum of ED rats mainly showed more severe fibrosis and decreased smooth muscle components.

The accumulation of proteoglycan proteins was increased in diabetic mice, while the expression of proteins related to the epidermal nitric oxide synthase/cyclic guanosine monophosphate/nitric oxide relative pathway was low.

Lysine supplementation improved the erection response, as well as its histological and molecular structural changes.

Therefore, lysine supplementation can improve erectile function in diabetic rats with erectile dysfunction, possibly due to its potential anti-fibrotic activity. This finding provides direct evidence for a potential treatment for diabetic erectile dysfunction.
