What causes groin pain and how can it be prevented?

The groin is a triangular area located on both sides of the lower abdomen. Many people do not take groin pain seriously, especially mild pain. But in fact, groin pain is a symptom of many diseases. Let's take a look at it together!

1. Causes

1. Inguinal lymphadenitis is one of the main causes of inguinal pain. Inguinal pain is likely to be caused by infection or inflammation of the lower limb lymphatic system, which causes local pain in the inguinal area. However, the local swollen lymph nodes can be palpated by themselves and there is tenderness. Some of them may be accompanied by lower limb edema.

2. After an inguinal hernia occurs, there may be pulling pain in the groin and the formation of a local soft mass, which is obvious when standing and disappears when lying down.

3. Varicose veins in men can manifest as scrotal swelling and pain, and there may be pulling pain in the groin, but it usually gets better after lying down. The local spermatic cord is thickened and painful. In addition, common prostatitis in men can sometimes cause groin pain.

4. Local muscle strain, ligament strain, and nerve damage can cause local pain. Common clinical masses, ovarian cyst pedicle torsion, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc. can all cause groin pain.

5. Diseases such as herniated disc and piriformis syndrome can cause pain in the waist and lower limbs, and sometimes the pain radiates to the groin area.

2. How to prevent:

1. Prevent infection and strengthen physical fitness.

2. Patients with inguinal hernia should use a hernia belt to prevent hernia protrusion and inguinal pain.

3. Early detection of varicocele and early treatment.

4. Early prevention and treatment of local injuries, lumbar disc herniation, piriformis syndrome, etc.

3. Treatment measures:

1. Direct hernia is mostly the result of weak abdominal wall muscles and increased intra-abdominal pressure. For oblique hernia in infants under 1 year old, compression treatment with hernia band can be used, and it may be cured as they grow and develop. In principle, surgical treatment should be used for incarcerated hernia or reducible hernia. For patients who are not easy to operate, hernia band can be used for treatment, and hernia repair surgery can also be performed through laparoscopy.

2. In clinical practice, bubo lymphadenitis can usually be diagnosed by B-ultrasound and routine blood tests, and the treatment is mainly antibiotics.

3. Frequent attacks of varicocele in men require surgical treatment.

4. Local injuries can be treated by general surgery or rehabilitation department.
