More Than Just Bleeding! Symptoms of a Broken Nose

The nose can be considered a relatively fragile organ. Because it is "exposed" to the outside, it is easy to be injured. Especially for young people, it is inevitable to bump into things during regular exercise, and nose injuries are also common. So, what symptoms will appear after a broken nose? It's not just as simple as bleeding!

1. Nosebleed:

Most nose fractures involve tearing of the nasal mucosa and heavy nose bleeding.

2. Local deformity:

When the violence that causes a nose fracture comes from one side, the nasal bone on the same side sinks and bulges on the opposite side, resulting in a crooked nose deformity. Frontal violence often fractures both sides of the nasal bone, causing the bridge of the nose to collapse and form a saddle-shaped deformity. A nose fracture accompanied by a dislocated nasal septum may expose the nasal septum or cartilage in the nasal cavity.

3. Tenderness and bone friction sound:

There is not much pain after a broken nose, but the fracture site is painful to touch and a bone friction sound can often be felt.

4. Bruising on the eyelids:

After a nose fracture, ecchymosis may occur due to bleeding from the tissues that infiltrate the eyelids and conjunctivae bilaterally.
