If you have these symptoms, be careful of a broken arm!

It is normal for men to participate in various sports, but many sports are unavoidable, such as football, basketball and other large-scale sports, so injuries are very common. If the injury is serious, it is likely that the arm will be broken. So what are the symptoms of a broken arm?

1. Scaphoid fracture:

Scaphoid fractures are mostly caused by indirect violence. Symptoms of fractures include pain and swelling on the dorsal side of the wrist, especially in the fossa, and functional impairment of wrist joint movement. Tilt the wrist radially, flex the thumb and index finger, and tap the metacarpophalangeal joint, which can cause increased wrist pain. Scaphoid fractures are easily missed, and X-rays should be performed in time for a clear diagnosis. Scaphoid fractures can be divided into three types: ① Scaphoid tuberosity fracture. It is a distal fracture of the scaphoid and generally heals well. ② Scaphoid waist fracture. Due to poor local blood circulation, it generally heals slowly. ③ Proximal scaphoid fracture. The proximal fracture block is affected by blood circulation and is prone to nonunion and ischemic necrosis.

2. Metacarpal fracture:

Local swelling, pain and flexion and extension dysfunction of the metacarpophalangeal joint after the fracture are common symptoms of this type of hand fracture. There is obvious tenderness when touching the fractured area, and the pain worsens when the metacarpal bone is longitudinally compressed or tapped. If there is overlapping displacement, the bone will be shortened, and the symptoms of the fracture can be seen as a depression in the metacarpal head, which is particularly obvious when clenching the palm. Fractures of the metacarpal neck and metacarpal shaft often cause bone friction sounds.

3. Phalangeal fracture:

Fractures may be transverse, oblique, spiral, comminuted or involve the joint surface. After the fracture, there is local pain and swelling, and the extension and flexion function of the fingers is limited. When there is obvious displacement, the proximal and middle phalanx fractures may have angular deformity, and the dorsal avulsion fracture of the base of the distal phalanx may have hammer finger deformity, and the fingers cannot be actively straightened. At the same time, bone friction sound may be felt and there may be abnormal movement. These are common symptoms of this type of hand fracture.
